First market on my busiest month ever, and my first of two visits down to Brighton. Today I’m at the @make.amarket ceramics market in the Brighton Unitarian Church. Here until 4pm

Meet @ceramicsbysimon 👋

Simon’s work is focused on the simple moments of everyday life, whether it’s making that first coffee of the morning, enjoying an afternoon treat between meetings, or a catchup with friends over a cup of tea, he wants the ceramics he makes to celebrate and enhance those moments.

Simon will be bringing his coffee-inspired ceramics to our free House of Coffee Makers event on Saturday 31st October and Sunday 1st November, 10am - 5pm.

Well after just over two years of doing pottery the time has finally arrived to get my own pottery wheel and I couldn’t be more excited. I looked at some many different wheels and through different studios have also personally used about 5 different wheels so I had a pretty good idea of what I wanted. I opted to go with the Thistle Wheel from @kiln.crafts and I’m not disappointed at all. Everything from the technical specifications (including the lovely bonus feature of inbuilt USB sockets) through to the customer service and ongoing support answering all my questions has made this the right decision for me. I’m just looking forward to many hours spent at the wheel making lots of lovely new pots!

Anyone for coffee? I don’t make loads of them, but I do always love making these coffee drippers in the style of V60. I’ve currently got a selection available at @betterthingslondon and I’ll be bringing a few with me to @hepworthwakefield for the House of Makers at the end of October

A brief moment to say thanks for everyone’s reaction to my marbled porcelain coffee cups over the last few months. What began as a quick experiment with a 1kg sample bag of porcelain has turned into my best selling items 😊 Even as I’m still getting to understand how porcelain behaves and how to get the best colour options with it I’m loving seeing people’s responses to these, and can’t wait to see what I can achieve with it.

I’m busy making a new batch of cups for upcoming markets with @make.amarket in Brighton and @hepworthwakefield next month, and hopefully for my website as well. Stay tuned for some new colour options coming soon as well 🙏

Time to upgrade my favourite glass duralex coffee cup and turn it into a ceramic version. I had lots of fun making this, so I’m definitely going to be making a big batch in the next few weeks

Cup appreciation post! ☕️

I’ve admired @ceramicsbysimon cups from a far for a while now and I was super fortunate to be able to pick some up during a ceramics fair in my home town!
There’s something really special about drinking good coffee from a hand made cup, especially when you know it’s been made by someone who also appreciates speciality coffee in the same way.
This isn’t a paid ad, I paid good money for all 3 of these cups and I’d happily buy more!

Check @ceramicsbysimon out if you like the look of them 😊

We know I love a good coffee cup and this latest design might be one of my favourites. Created to replicate the famous glass duralex cup favoured by French bistros as a wine glass, and coffee shops all over the world for flat whites and cortados. It’s a go to coffee cup for me, as they’re the right size and great for pouring latte art. So it was probably inevitable that I’d try to make them at some point, and as a bonus it gave me a chance to practice faceting the clay. Safe to say I love the finished result and these will be making an appearance in my next collections from October onwards

I do love a good productive day in the studio and getting to cross a lot of things off my to do list. Especially when part of this was finalising all my stock for the @betterthingslondon autumn curation.

Wasn’t counting on getting quite so overwhelmed about opening up the new @the_potters_yard while eating my lunch, but it was probably needed and just reflects how much work, energy and excitement is going into the new space.
