Tonight! “The Deepest Middle” by Chapter 58 @anttiuimonen @lacholamiramon @floremuuse

20:30hs at Plein Theater @pleintheater

Chapter 58 invites you into a world of uncertainty, spontaneity, and risk-taking. In The Deepest Middle, dance, text, and music are composed live on stage. Shaped by the performers, the space, and the experiences they carry into the room, the performance becomes its own world, raw, absurd, intimate, unrepeatable.

Hello, I’m Sofia, but people call me Chola! I’m originally from Argentina and based in Amsterdam. I’m a dancer, actress, performer, choreographer, movement director, and educator.

In Chapter 58, I found a space to challenge myself in unexpected ways. Working alongside Antti and Flore has been a spectacular trip; they always raise the bar.
So, how did it all start? In the summer of 2025, while we were practicing together, I suggested we perform once, just to see what would happen if we composed a piece in front of an audience. We imagined something tiny and informal, with maybe 10 people. Somehow, that turned into an audience of 55. Minutes before the show, I remember thinking: Either I’m going to throw up or die.
Luckily, neither happened. And just like that, Chapter 58 began. I couldn’t be happier to keep sharing this adventure with two outstanding artists I’m lucky to call colleagues and friends.

About my personal experience: I have worked in Argentina during 2013 till 2019 in Film, Theatre, Dance Companies and Television Programs both as a dancer and actress. After working with several contemporary companies and projects, I moved to Europe. In 2023 created La Pacha, a performance supported by AFK. I also founded Movement Laboratory, a space for education, experimentation, and performances around improvisation.
I have worked as a performer in projects with choreographers like: Soren Siebel (GR), Mayke Van Delhuizen (NL), Fernando Oliveira (BR), Maria Pisiou (GR), Amsterdam Nationale Opera & Ballet (NL), among others. These days, I continue moving between dance, theatre, improvisation, and acting, always curious about what can happen when different worlds meet.

Come join us this Thursday for our very first performance at Plein Theater! by @chapterfiftyeight

Hi, my name is Antti! I am a performer, choreographer and artistic researcher. My background is in breakdance, and since then I have travelled from contemporary dance and futures studies to performance art. Currently I work in an interdisciplinary way, combining movement, text and sound.
I have collaborated with artists and companies such as Marina Abramović, Vloeistof and Reija Wäre. I have presented my own works at venues such as Plein Theater, Theater Utrecht and Splendor. I have had the privilege of learning from artists such as Katie Duck and Julyen Hamilton.

I am eternally curious about bodies and the kinds of conscious and unconscious stories they hold. In Chapter 58 I get to be surprised every time by what unfolds.

Especially when composing performances live, the stories of bodies come alive in a very special way. This opens a space where we as performers, and the audience as well, step into an ever changing and surprising reality where events are not predetermined. Like life in general.

Improvisation to me is a life practice, and I am very happy that we have found so many people in our audiences who enjoy it as well. Let’s dive into the deepest middle together! by @chapterfiftyeight

Hi! I’m Flore and I am a dancer, performer, and maker in (mostly) performing arts, who is always curious to see what else is out there.

My love for improvising started during my studies at the Amsterdam University of the Arts, when we did an improvisation project with musicians. The excitement of not knowing what will happen exactly, gave me a specific kind of urgency and focus to be fully present in the moment. It challenges me to stay in contact with myself and others while feeling vulnerable since anything could happen.
Since August 2025 we started Chapter 58 with Antti and Sofia. I love working with those generous creatures, because we give each other space and safety to fail and try out stuff that we don’t master yet. We allow play, and messing about. Besides that, we also have a lot of trust in each other’s skills and honesty. I think that combination keeps inviting us to stay curious, to keep developing, instead of going into our own safe habits.
You don’t find that easily, such a fertile and stimulating work environment.

Next to the work I do with Chapter 58, I also dance, perform and create solo or for other artists. Many of them are interdisciplinary projects or site-specific projects and are either theatrical or interactive in nature. I adore projects with a good dose of chaos, arbsurdity, playfulness, friction or ambiguity. However simple, I like it when there is something radical in a project.
A few of the makers I have worked with by Tamara Cubas (UY), Jesús de Vega (ES/NL), Rafaela Sahyoun (BR), Judith Sanchez Ruíz (CU), Sophia van der Putten (NL), Nika Jankovic-Disney (HR), Buro Nieuw Perspectief (NL), Christina Mastori (GR/UK/NL), and Sofia Garcia Miramon (AR/NL) and BUI (NL). Next to that, I frequently collaborate with musicians from the experimental music scene, such as Lida Brouskari, Thomas Jaspers, Marcus Wärnheim, Antigoni Seferli and Carmela Michailidis.
I performed at Amsterdam Fringe Festival, Julidans, Café Theater Festival, Delft Fringe Festival, Pictura, and Murf/Murw. by @chapterfiftyeight

INTRODUCING OUR TEAM
Christina Mastori @somanatomics

Hello, my name is Christina and I am an interdisciplinary artist, visual storyteller and movement researcher, of GR/UK origins based in Amsterdam.

For “The Deepest Middle”, I am filming, documenting, creating visuals & media that immerse the viewer in the spontaneous universe of explosive creativity that is called Chapter 58.
In previous collabs, I have shadowed with my camera the playfully combusting world that Sofia, Flore and Anti create and I am beyond excited to be mesh-ing with them again.

In my artistic practice, I delve, dive and document the creative process of artists, I produce others and my own work (via Platano Productions, Wishbone & Movesonscreen), and I create dance films, installations and site-specific works that reflect on everyday paradoxes, habitual patterns, socioethical dilemmas and interactions, that intercross dance, scenic design and visual world.

I have created for/ with amazing artists from all kinds of disciplines and exhibited work in various locations and festivals, museums and theatres (STEDELIJK/NL, ICK/NL, ADE/NL, KORZO/NL,OLD VIC T/UK, JOYCE/US) canals, cafes, harbours and industrial buildings, forests, pools, stations and various other spaces that intrigue senses and perplex perception.

INTRODUCING OUR TEAM
Ryan O’Shea @ryanosheatheatre

Hello, my name is Ryan and I’m a queer performance making shapeshifter originally from the UK and now based in glorious Amsterdam.

For Chapter 58’s latest piece, I will design and operate the lighting. I like to manually operate the lights not just reacting to the unfolding improvisation on stage but playing with it. I see the lights as another performer in the space and this becomes particularly resonant when working with improvisation. The lighting desk becomes an instrument with which I shall jam, play and frolic with Sofia, Antti and Flore. Marvellous.

Outside of working with Chapter 58, I shift between making aesthetically-sharp, physical driven contemporary theatre projects (like I_RAN, Sync, FOG BOX) to making trashy, camp, cabaret turns (XPat, Annette Curtain) to collaborative working with exciting collectives (YAK, INTERVAL, Reckless Sleepers), to off-stage work as a Technaturg [technician/dramaturg] (Tom Marshman, Vicky Maier).

Saturated through all these shapes is a practice of joy, spectacle and play. Projects are usually devised, scored and ambivalent; permeating with a feeling of queer otherness.

Our last performance “Once In A Blue Moon” was a special day: the temperature hit 37 degrees in Amsterdam.
It didn’t stop us from performing, and neither the audience in coming to support us. Between ice cubs, wet towels, cold beers and fights for a spot in front of the only fan, this was one unforgettable evening.
We gave a sweaty goodbye to our first year together as ‘Chapter 58’.

And now we start this season with our upcoming show at Plein Theater on October 15th! Get your tickets through the link in our bio taken in Amsterdam, Netherlands by @chapterfiftyeight

Chapter 58 invites the audience to step into a world of uncertainty, spontaneity, and risk-taking. Founded in 2025, the group grew out of a desire to choreograph and compose performances live on stage.
In The Deepest Middle, live composition of dance, text, and music form a shared language that the performers use to respond to each other.
Pre-curated music, inspired by the title, meets improvised movement, spoken text, and soundscapes built live with a loop station. Shaped by the performers, the space, and the experiences they carry into the room, the performance becomes its own world, raw, absurd, intimate, unrepeatable.
