I don’t even know where to begin. I am overwhelmed with gratitude at the reception of my exhibition. This was, by far, the largest project I have undertaken in my professional career. But from the outset, I always felt that this was the work that needed to be done, a conversation that needed to happen, a risk that I was willing to take. And I am so glad that I did it. I have many people to thank in my Oscar speech - I promise I will reach out to all of you individually. But I do want to send a special thank you to everyone who came to see the exhibit and engage with the work. Art is elevated when it is put into public space. It is something that didn’t exist before, and now it does - forever (in theory). If you saw the art and it impacted you, a piece of the work now belongs to you. And that truly is the most gratifying thing for me. Selling Canada is not over! Creative work isn’t always inspiring. Sometimes it’s 200 hours of painting, rising costs, things not working, and wondering what the hell you’re doing. @chris_rouleau took us through the highs and lows of a 12-week residency, the days he left feeling unstoppable, and the days he left questioning everything. He kept going. By the end, he had 10 huge paintings to show for it. A reminder that making something meaningful rarely feels meaningful every step of the way. Exactly one year ago, I began my artist residency at @gladstonehouseto. I could have never predicted that my creative efforts would have culminated into “Selling Canada”, a collection of ten new works, exhibited at @redheadgallery this past summer. It was truly an artist’s dream come true. Own a piece of a dream, and grab this limited edition box set. Inspired by the iconic Laurentien pencil crayon packaging, it includes all ten 8” x 6” prints, with full art details on the reverse. The entire set fits inside a 3/4” thick clear plastic box.
