T'yanak by Peque Gallaga and Lore Reyes #CJSays Keri Lang! 2/5 stars ⭐⭐ T'yanak is a reboot of the iconic movie of Janice De Belen directed by The Peque Gallaga who also directed this reboot, Staple na ipinapalabas ang Tiyanak Pag Halloween back in the 90s kaya when I heard about this reboot, na-excite ako but sadly I missed it during its theatrical release and inabangan ko na lang talaga online.. Well the story is basically the same but this time mas quiet at dreaded ito compared sa original na campy horror, well hindi ako natakot to be honest but slightly I like how it was written, it's just that watered down yung "scare" factor nito! Judy Ann Santos is really versatile and she really mothered her role here especially those dramatic scenes, Liza Lorena is always intimidating, How I wish binigyan ng twist yung character nya, I know he can be sinister, Solenn Heussaff can be a good scream queen and Awang awa ako Kay Yayo Aguila here, lastly, I'm so happy to see the OG scream queens Lot-Lot De Leon and Janice De Belen did a cameo here! If only they elevated the scare, this can be a good horror movie for me! Keri Lang sya for me! #Tyanak #Halloween2026 #cjscares by @cjsaysblog
VHS (Viva Horror Story) by Darryl Yap #CJSays Keri Lang! 2/5 stars ⭐⭐ VHS is the first horror movie of Darryl Yap and nagkaroon ako ng curiosity dahil sa mga teaser nila and since naka focus tayo ngayon sa local for my Halloween series of course I will not miss this and after watching it, it's a mixed bag for me.. First, I just want to commend the OBB ang ganda visually! Dasal: 1/5 stars ⭐ Creepy yung mga tight shots ng rebulto dito then andming jumpscares na effective naman at may mga humihiyaw na audience (im not included) Sachzna Laparan is a promising scream queen, sa Tatlong episodes Eto yung may humor but ang nipis ng kwento nya actually nabitin pa nga ako like Yun na ba yun? Spoiled: 3/5 stars ⭐⭐⭐ This can be a standalone movie, I like the concept, I really find McCoy De Leon cute but after watching this parang ang hirap Alisin sa isip yung creepy and sinister smile nya! Ella Cruz is also effective and bumagay sa kanya yung role nya! Mas gaganda at maeexpound pa yung kwento nito if full length movie sya! Hiling: 2/5 stars ⭐⭐ Eto yung horror story about bad parenting and parents being so perfectionist, it also has body horror element, the scoring reminds me of the scoring of The Substance, Surprisingly, Okay sa horror si Sarah Lahbati, Kit Thompson is always effective! Maganda yung concept kaso bitin but comparing to the first episode, mas may kwento ito, the ending is heartbreaking yet creepy! Overall, VHS can be a good horror movie franchise of Viva Films, Direk Darryl Yap can still hone his craft in creating horror movies but atleast he tried here! Hindi ako nakaramdam ng takot or kaba but again the second story is good but it cannot save the entire movie! #VHS #VivaHorrorStories #Halloween2026 #CJScares by @cjsaysblog
Poon by Adolf Alix Jr. #CJSays Keri Lang! 2/5 stars ⭐⭐ Ang interesting sana nong premise ng poon, its giving Itim and Kisapmata vibes but sa sobrang gusto nya maging complicated and layered, ang chaotic ng naging outcome, yung tipong malilito ka kung kaninong story arc ang susundan mo. I would like to give tribute to Miss Jaclyn Jose and Sir Ronaldo Valdez here, seeing them here is like a bittersweet moment since it's so nice to see them on screen but it won't happen again, may their souls be resting in peace. The powerhouse cast is the main anchor of this movie, The acting showdown of Janice De Belen, Lot-Lot De Leon and Ara Muna is definitely the highlight of the movie, Promising din yung mga Gen-Z artists here like Will Ashley, Althea Ablan, and Joao Constancia. Creepy naman yung "poon" everytime na lumalbas sya nagugulat ako and I wish mas doon na lang nagfocus yung kwento but gets naman na plot device sya to push the narrative most especially yung "twist" well medyo nagkaroon ako ng hint though! I also like the creepy and dreaded atmosphere ng movie! Well naserve naman nila yung purpose nila to bring terror but the story is so chaotic and messy, medyo nabagot ako but nakakagulat talaga yung shots at image nong "poon"! #Poon #PrimeVideoPh #Halloween2026 #CJScares by @cjsaysblog
True Manila Encounters: Undressed #CJSays Skip It! 😭😭😭 Nong nagpa call to submission ang IWant ng true horror stories for a project, na-excite ako to be honest and then when they released kung sino ang mga gaganap, naexcite ako particularly dito sa episode ni Xyriel Manabat and Karina Bautista, mahusay umarte ang dalawang ito but after watching their episode, nanghinyang ako sa dalawang ito coz they don't deserve a material like this! Tungkol ito sa kababalaghan ng damit na nabili sa isang ukay ukay, it reminds me of the story of Segunda Mano, well marami naman talagang mahilig sa ukay ukay even ako aminado ako dahil bumibili ako ng mga pambahay na shorts sa ukayan. I watched it thrice para magawa ko itong content dahil nakatulugan ko talaga sya sa sobrang bagot! Wala akong naramdaman na takot or kaba while watching it, Nanghihinayang din ako sa idea na nagpa submission pa sila ng stories tapos ganito lang ang mangyayari gayunpaman I would like to commend Xyriel and Karina for their performance here, I would love to see them in a horror film that will highlight their talents! May isa pang episode na upcoming, hopefully Sana magustuhan ko but I will manage my expectations! Mas nakakatakot pang basahin yung True Philippine Ghost Stories 😭😭😭 #TrueManilaEncounters #IWantPh #Halloween2026 #CJScares by @cjsaysblog
Red Crown by Dominic Zapata #CJSays Super Nice! 4/5 stars ⭐⭐⭐⭐ Thrilling..Campy..Unhinged, and Entertaining! My expectations are low since I know Red Crown is composed mostly by newbie artists including beauty queens but this movie unexpectedly delivered! It was fun and savage! As a pageant fan and a movie fan, I enjoyed watching this slasher thriller, it's giving Miss Universe ala Squid Game and I had a good time watching this especially the references! Tawang tawa ako! Pageants are very competitive territory and the tension and competition tripled here, it was literally "cut throat!" I'm so happy to watch the queens here like seeing them act makes me so happy for them! Ahtisa Manalo is clearly the stand out and a revelation here! Like nilaro nila si Ahtisa dito, malayo sa kilala kong sya! She's promising indeed! Maren MJ is always fun as well as Mareng Ara and Gazini! Herlene Budol is very natural and lastly MMD is spunky here and I wish to see her doing action ala Tomb Raider! On the other hand, Sparkle Artists also slayed, I'm so happy that Ashley Ortega was given a spotlight here coz she deserves it, Sanya Lopez can do pageants, Faith Da Silva is a promising Kontrabida, AZ Martinez and Shuvee Etrata are both promising scream queens for me! I also love seeing Ruffa Gutierrez here as well as Bianca Manalo! I really love how they played and gave a twist to the segments in pageants, the swimsuit is fun, the national costume is funnier especially the references, the evening gown is stressful! Eto yung movie na hindi mo kailangan seryosohin, it was meant to entertain and they gave a show, I wish the other girls were also given a spotlight but I know it's hard since 25 sila, watch out for the ending, it very explosive and teasing! Definitely a fun watch this Halloween! I like the women empowerment angle towards the end, oh yeah! Don't mess with the queens! #RedCrown #GMAPictures #QueenOfPhilippineIslands #CJScares by @cjsaysblog

Clayface by James Watkins #CJSays Excellent! 5/5 stars ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ This is how you do a villain origin movie! I admit, I'm not familiar with Clayface but I'm so interested in knowing his story! The story revolves around Matt Hagen, an upcoming Hollywood leading man who is tragically cut short when the actions of a local crime boss leave him horribly disfigured, desperate to redeem his status and regain his physical appearance, Matt seeks out a cutting-edge treatment that miraculously returns him to his former self, but also affects his grip on reality, spiraling him down a destructive path of all-consuming revenge. Tom Rhys Harries is impressive as Clayface, this will be his vehicle into superstardom, I can really feel his desperation and rage here and I would like to see him again in the sequel? Him let's see! I love the OST used especially If You Leave Me Now! I'm so amazed as a non DC fan, I can't believe this is a Psychological Body Horror movie and we don't see this genre often in a DC movie! The Body Horror sequence really made me feel squeamish and disturbed like it's so unhinge! I cannot! Clayface is refreshing take on villain origin movie, if you love watching a villain origin story and body horror then you might be raving for this! #ClayfacePh #WarnerBrothersPh #DCEU #CJSaysBlog by @cjsaysblog
Other Mommy by Rob Savage #CJSays Nice! 3/5 stars ⭐⭐⭐ Other Mommy is a promising horror film to be honest however this can be scarier or disturbing with better writing! The film heavily relied on jumpscares, there's this one scene that I really got startled, other jumpscares were just fine for me! Jessica Chastain is so creepy here! Her performance here will disturb you, Arabella Olivia Clarke is impressive here, she really anchored the movie since the movie is focused on her character, actually there are times that I found her character creepy, maybe that "mata-mata" acting is working! The look of the entity is eerie, the cinematography especially the shots is good! My main gripe here is the story, though yes I got entertained and like the concept but the writing can be improved, I'm not sure why Bela became "friends" with the "other mommy" since it doesn't show if she and her mom have a mom and daughter issues, the ending is kinda corny and the twist is kinda e unexpected but the build up is not that good! Still, Other Mommy is creepy and a nice horror to watch this Halloween! #OtherMommyPh #UniversalPictuesPh #WarnerBrothersPh #CjSaysBlog by @cjsaysblog
Always Yours Never Mine by Cathy Garcia-Sampana #CJSays Keri Lang! 2/5 stars ⭐⭐ Mataas ang iniwan sa akin ng JoshLia movie na Un/Happy For You kaya I'm expecting that if ever they will do another movie mahihigitan nila so when I found out that they are doing this, okay, let's go but after watching the trailer, hindi ako na-tease and after watching it.. it's just okay! JoshLia really anchored this movie well, individually, Julia Barretto is good portraying flawed character, she's not your typical romantic movie leading lady for me, I hope to see her in a challenging role that will showcase her acting prowess and versatility, Joshua Garcia on the other hand remained ABSCBN's Most bankable leading man of this generation and hopefully I wanna see him stepping out into this zone and flex his acting capabilities. The supporting cast are also good most especially Bob J'Beili and Karen Reyes, it looks like the new pambansang best friend role are born and lastly Bianca Umali, she's impressive here and she's so ready to do more! Sobrang nagshine si Bianca dito and hopefully in her next movie project, sya naman ang bida! As someone na fan ng romantic movies ng Star Cinema, I'm expecting na they would step out into their comfort zone and make a movie that is something new, in this movie, nandon pa din yung mga usual tropes ng Star Cinema (including that wig) and I'm looking for something new, oh before I forgot, I love the cinematography of this movie! I love the shots! Ice Seguerra 's Kamusta Ka added extra "feels" to this movie, it was a good choice of song! As much as I want to give this movie a higher rating but ang main gripe ko dito is that I was emotionally distant to the character, the execution of the story is kinda messy, gets ko yung gusto nila i-achieve however I guess with better pacing and editing, they can do it. Importante sa akin na emotionally invested ako sa ganitong genre, not necessarily nakakarelate dahil nangyari sa akin but yung you will be rooting for them, gets ko yung right love at the wrong time, what can you do for love, what ifs, missed opportunities but nanghihinayang ako!
