In this episode, we chat with Foo Maosheng (@chaceingmao), an Entomologist from the Lee Kong Chian Natural History Museum (NUS). He shares with us how he got started with eating edible insects after trying his first bamboo worm from Thailand as a protein replacement, as well as the history of entomophagy. SZN 2 EP 2 - Garden Gastronomy

In this episode, Rachel Wong (@escchelator and @lepakinsg) shares her journey starting and writing about agriculture and the food system at Cong and Co. Growing up with her grandmother who cooks sparked her curiosity towards how food is prepared and the broader socio-economic forces that shape and determine the food we choose to put on our plates, as well as what is considered palatable.

Rachel also discusses the Western-centrism of vegetarian diets and breaks down why agro-biodiversity is important to a sustainable food system. Reflecting on how high-yield crops have come to replace much of our traditional and native varieties, she reflects on how it has influenced how and what we farm, and its associations with notions of modernity and progress.

In this episode, Evelyn Eng-Lim reflects on her origin story of volunteering with Nature Society before she found herself at the crossroads of owning a plot of land to reclaim autonomy of the food and produce she consumes and eventually, building a food forest at the heart of Lim Chu Kang. She highlights the importance of people and community in building a soil-based farm and what we stand to lose as farms rich in biodiversity are being replaced by agri-tech in Singapore. @climatecheesecake is back with SEASON 2!!!

I'm so excited to be back again with my co-hosts to be chatting about all things climate.

Season 1 was very much us finding our voice and exploring topics that we found interesting. But Season 2 will see us begin to dive deep into a particular theme...check out our IG to figure out what that is!

This Season will be filled with guests and we are so thankful to have them come on to allow us to expand on the theme in so many different ways.

Our podcast's aim is really to explore complex climate issues in candid ways, and we are learning about all these things together with everyone else.

We hope that breaking these topics down into bitesized pieces can make climate change a little bit less daunting, especially when you have 4 of us with you on this ride. @movinn @sankarology @ohletsfly

@sankarology would like to apologize for not compiling references for several episodes now. He is very small and has no money so you can imagine the kind of stress he's under. We'll get the references up after the long weekend! Thanx 4 understanding frenz.

Climate action needs to be based in science and fact, and so do our conversations about it. We strive to cite and reference as many elements of our episodes possible. This is not just to back up the things we say, but also to help our listeners find interesting and relevant readings on these issues.
