Where are we?! We had a fantastic day out yesterday with Divine Media doing some filming for their upcoming documentary project "World War Witches" - which I'm super excited to see, please give that a look.

After the main shots were done we had time to make use of @woodlandphotoshoots stunning bluebell wood for some fantasy shots, keep eyes up for those: I got to see the previews and they're gorgeous.

Working on the bow-down: what I wanted was to help Poppy with joining up the rock-backwards, picking a leg up, and lowering her head. I support her leg and head to guide her down. I'm teaching these cues both sides/both fores to see which side is more comfortable for Poppy.

What I got was whatever this is. 😂

Another clip of the @horsemanshiphub Showjumping (non-ridden) class last Friday! It's been a week? How'd that happen?

We had a great time. Poppy did so well. Indoor arenas with giant curtains and an audience are what we have the least experience in.

This felt a lot faster than it looks and I'm slowly realizing that this is a lot harder than I think it is? Roll on 2027!

We entered the showjumping class at @horsemanshiphub ! Opted for going on the ground as my ridden jump technique isn't there yet.

This felt a lot faster than the footage looks, I am running like hell to keep up with Poppy. We collided at one point which was my fault for not giving Poppy a better signal for the turn - she's fine, my ankle got Stomped.

Despite walking out of this class thinking we had absolutely messed it up, we placed 1st! The imposter syndrome is strong but we did have fun and I guess that's what matters in the end.

Next time: ridden

Playing with the rear-up in the Wing Rig. If I look nervous it's because I am! I don't want to go too big too soon and unbalance either of us. Poppy did fall over earlier this year when she threw a strop, reared, and lost her footing (we were both fine) - not something I'd like to repeat.

Dismounting in the Wing Rig is very easy. The whole rig is designed to have nothing solid extending past the level of your hips, so nothing solid is in the way.

Finding lateral movements when wearing the wings - we muddled through it.

What gets me about the Wing Rig vs my armour is the way the weight is distributed and how I can feel the wings dragging backwards. I might be able to offset that with adjustments to the backpack straps and by taking some bulk off of the feathers. I don't feel that adding a counterweight to the backpack would assist.

The hiking frame that they are built on has a 'shelf' bar on the base which I should remove as it's not serving any purpose.

Poppy doing absolutely incredibly with the training and getting used to the wings again.

None of my hobbies are normal. The Wing Rig is a living project that I intend to update and work on to improve it.
Surprisingly I didn't get to play-test it much while making it and now having ridden in it a few times I feel the need to apologize profusely to Ollie because these are a *right bastard* 😂

I love them. I will adapt to them. I need to add some more padding, I think I will re-balance the wings so they "tilt" forward and have less weight dragging you back into the saddle, and these are still a bit big to be in scale with a 15.1hh - 16.3hh horse (which is their intended range) so the larger feathers will be shaped to match.

I'd estimate the weight of the whole rig as under 15kgs, it can be hefted and slung over one arm to move - as long as you don't have to go through a small door.

This didn't FEEL as loud as it sounds on the recording. Pulled some armour out to combine with liberty training as it's been a while since I wore it. Notes to take home: get better point belt for the legs or put the points through the arming jacket, the band I have here slipped down.
