Can a saddle stand be nostalgic? Maybe. I found this wooden stand on marketplace, and thankfully it hadn't already sold. I have a deep memory of proper, solid frame stands lining the middle of the tack room and covered in saddles to be cleaned. Everything smelled of glycerin soap and neatsfoot oil. The lightbulbs were probably older than you. The tack was probably older than god.

My trick saddle is a hefty beast and can't go on our wall racks because the racks end up no longer attached to the wall. Something about putting it onto a stand that is so like my first experience with horse riding feels deeply resonant.

And to add, the person who sold me the stand was a delight, we talked for the best part of an hour about horses, life, anything.

It's "just" a wooden stand, and it's a story, and it's everything gone before.

A few more cool photos, this time from the ground of the skill at arms segment of the Cinderella show, where the prince decides to train swordsmanship and test Dandini’s blade skills. The prince is shocked to find out Dandini’s blade work has improved since he’s been away, so has to resort to some questionable tactics to get the better of him. So much fun doing this live, but also very weird for me as an ex modern pentathlete. It is very unnatural not to just hit the opponent instinctively, when you’ve got an epee in hand. 😅 #fencing #swordfight #modernpentathlon #performer #cinderella

Only a week since we were fortunate to be a part of "Cinderella on Horseback" with @equestriennestunts !
Thank you Nicky and team for having us, and letting me have a go at the role of Dandini. Poppy did superbly with everything we had to do.

Kit wise: I made a selection of little things for this show! The hat and saddle cover here are by me, and you'll see more of the costumes in the coming weeks.

Also featuring the @equestriman1 jodhs because I have still yet to wear out any of my pairs of these despite doing some truly off-book activities.

Prince Charming! 👑

More than just a handsome face, he’s a skilled horseman and a formidable man-at-arms, equally at home in the saddle as he is with a sword.

Now there’s just one question… will he find the mysterious owner of the lost glass slipper? ✨👠

Princess Molly 💫

From graceful princess to dependable squire, Molly effortlessly switched between roles throughout the show. 👑🐴

One moment she was gliding around the arena with elegance and poise, the next she was supporting both Prince Charming and the Ugly Sisters as their ever-reliable squire. A brilliant performance that showed just how versatile she is!

Dandini!

Prince Charming’s clever, loyal valet and trusted right-hand man.

He’s certainly no pushover, proving his skill both in the saddle and with a sword. A dependable ally, and a formidable horseman to match! ⚔️🐴

Your Competition. Your Way✨

2025’s competition was incredible — Liberty, bridleless, neck ropes, saddles, bareback…you name it! every partnership brought courage, trust and amazing horsemanship.

We first started this competition many years ago at our home venue, so bringing it to The Horsemanship Event of The Year - Horsemanship Showcase was a true dream come true ❤️

Our incredible judges: @ben_actionhorses @lr_western_horses @freddy_steele @holly___barber @serena.kullich.eq all gave their scores and ‘judges’ comments on the day to these fabulous competitors!

These classes are about fun, trying something new, prizes and of course celebrating the partnership with your horse — however you choose to ride or on the ground.

This competition is for everyone. 💫

2026 offer more class categories, this competition is for ALL level. 25th - 27th September.

Walking through London as part of the New Year's Day Parade 2026 - with @equestriennestunts ! Out theme was the Cinderella Panto and watch this space for some exciting news ⭐

Thank you Jo Monck for this backstage photo at @lnydp where we were invited to ride with @equestriennestunts

Out theme was Cinderella Panto, with Poppy and I being "Dandini": the Prince's assistant and foil to whoever is the panto dame.

I made the coat, modified the hat, made Poppy's quarter sheet and the pillow with the Glass Slippers on it (they light up!).

My base layers are my 17th century kit which I use with The Vale Islanders.
