I got to spend the weekend with some of my favorite people, including this guy -- my brother in crime, Carl Thompson!.. This weekend we actually celebrated his 85th birthday! I personally think one of the greatest flaws of our society is our tendency to separate the young and old, as there truly is so much to learn from one another... To be able to grow old is such a gift that so many of us are not afforded, and I feel that we have so much to learn from those who are still here to share with us.
The past couple years of my life have been difficult for me and music has kind of been put on the back burner while I sort out some deep seated personal complications, but each time I get to hang with Carl I find myself inspired to keep the music moving forward for no reason other than to keep myself moving forward. The basses are amazing and all, but the wisdom and knowledge Carl passes onto me seems to be more valuable than any instrument could ever be.
I've still got a lot up my sleeve for this year... I'll be releasing a handful of live records, a studio record and have several festival announcements that will be coming soon, too, so keep an eye and ear out for those. Also, big thanks to my bass brothers for coming out to celebrate with us and my bass bro Palle for letting me take his incredible 77 CT for a spin! And as always-- thank you Carl for all you do for me. Happy birthday, my friend!
