We wrapped up Black Voter Registration Day and our weekend civic engagement work by registering 23 new voters! We’re especially proud of one new voter who had just turned 18 just 5 days beforehand. We also helped more than 175 people check their voter registration status. Please, please, please check yours—and if you’re eligible but haven’t registered, do it now. Go to Check Voter Registration | VOTE411 to check your voter registration status. The Texas voter registration deadline is Monday, October 5. Thank you, puresocialdallas and @soulfulstreetbites! #NationalBlackVoterDay #RegisterToVote #CheckYourStatus #BlackVotersMatter #YourVoteYourVoice #CollinCountyNAACP by @collinconaacp

VOTER REGISTRATION WEEK - PART 1 ... An exciting day at the North Texas Job Corp!!! In recognition of National Voter Registration Day on September 15, we invited our community partners to join us for voter registration at North Texas Job Corps. Thank you to the Collin County Alumnae Chapter of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Incorporated, for volunteering and helping us to register 34 students ages 18–24—and for many of them, this will be their very first election! As part of our five-year relationship with North Texas Job Corps, we had the opportunity to talk with these young adults about the importance of voting, what to expect at the polls, and the issues that matter most to them. Their questions, ideas, and enthusiasm were energizing and a powerful reminder that young people are ready to make their voices heard. North Texas Job Corps provides young people with academic support, career training, and hands-on skills to help them build successful futures. We are grateful to the directors and staff for their continued encouragement and support, and to our Delta partners for helping make this voter registration drive a success. We look forward to seeing these new voters at the polls! #YoungVoters #VoterRegistration #FirstTimeVoters #YourVoiceYourVote #CivicEngagement #NorthTexasJobCorps #CollinCountyNAACP #WeFightBack by @collinconaacp

Proud doesn’t begin to describe it. This past week, the Collin County NAACP Freedom School welcomed 26 incredible 7th and 8th grade scholars from across Collin County for a week of learning, leadership, creativity, and community. Together, we explored Black identity, Black history, leadership, and the power of building community through hands-on, project-based learning. Each day brought a new experience—from African dance and drumming, to creating their own dashikis, to learning the art of DJing—all while discovering the richness of our history and culture. On Friday, our scholars traveled to Black Wall Street in Tulsa, the cornerstone of our learning throughout the week. Standing where history happened transformed lessons from the classroom into lived experiences they will carry with them for years to come. This was our third year of Freedom School, and our hearts are full. Thank you to our phenomenal students, dedicated teachers, guest presenters, volunteers, generous donors, and supportive families. Your time, talent, and generosity made this week possible. And a special thank you to the Collin County NAACP for believing in this vision and continuing to invest in opportunities that nurture, educate, and empower Black children. The memories were unforgettable. The lessons will last a lifetime. More photos and stories from Freedom School are coming this week. Ashe and Amen. 📢 COMMUNITY LEADERS RALLY FOR JUSTICE, SCHOOL EQUITY & CIVIC ENGAGEMENT This past weekend, the Collin County NAACP joined with community leaders and residents from across Collin County to discuss barriers that continue to impact Black residents, particularly within our criminal justice and educational systems. Prompted by concerns raised through the recent Karmelo Anthony case, the rally focused on several important issues: ⚖️ Fairness in the Justice System Every person deserves due process, effective legal representation, and a fair trial before a jury that reflects a true cross-section of the community. 🏫 School Climate & Student Safety Community members discussed ongoing concerns involving racial harassment, racial slurs, and racially offensive language experienced by Black students in local schools. 📋 Support for HB 1405 Leaders committed to advocating for stronger reporting requirements, increased accountability, and meaningful disciplinary measures related to racial slurs in schools. 🗳️ Civic Engagement & Community Action Residents were encouraged to get involved through voting, jury service, advocacy, community organizing, and public leadership. The message was simple: awareness alone is not enough. Real change requires action. If we want fairness, accountability, educational equity, and equal justice under the law, we must remain engaged long after the headlines fade. It's time to get involved. We cannot afford to remain silent. ✅ Vote ✅ Serve on a jury ✅ Report injustice ✅ Advocate for change ✅ Organize your community ✅ Support organizations doing the work COUNT ME IN: https://forms.gle/FwGE6VyeJBA9UMtg8 JOIN THE COLLIN COUNTY NAACP: https://www.collincountynaacp.org/join-now DONATE TO SUPPORT OUR PROGRAMS: https://www.collincountynaacp.org/donation #CollinCountyNAACP #CollinCoNAACP #JusticeForAll #CivicEngagement #EducationalEquity #CommunityAction #Vote #Advocacy #EqualJustice #CommunityLeadership #CollinCounty by @collinconaacp
