Our latest guest on @comedywithanaccent is Ivorian-French comedian @arielle.souma Because of an absentee father, Arielle was raised by her white French family 🇫🇷 (in her words “who eats quiches”), a scenario that your host compared to Tarzan as the white french are almost like wild animals when it comes to knowledge of blackness. Despite thejr best intention it did mean Arielle had to put up with racist stuff her family would say and she had to learn from her black friends how to be black … as neither her mum or her knew how to do her own hairs for example. This over-compensating acting out of “blackness” then led to the exaggerated scenarios described in this video, that Arielle herself now could not comprehend and she’d find it hilarious.

A question that Albanian 🇦🇱 Italian stand up comic @xhulianodule couldn’t quite get: why do some Italians 🇮🇹 keep mistaking him for Chinese?

Is it just because Italians don’t quite know what Chinese people look like? But even Chinese Italians themselves think he is Chinese 🤣

Is it just because his name include the alphabets “X” and “H” rarely used in Italian, or is there some elements of truth in his appearance?

Our guest @shalakakurup shares weird questions she gets asked as a first generation Indian immigrant in the UK, like this one - “Do your parents allow you to date outside of your caste?”

No one even thinks about castes these days in the environment that Shalaka grew up.

It’s partially because British Indians’ idea of India sometimes feels like it’s frozen in time in the eyes of the newly-arrived from the actual modern India. by @comedywithanaccent

Some of his French compatriots are doubters who think it’s just a show full of French stereotypes (it’s not!) and some are late converts - only discovering the offering for the francophone community after ten years in London. Your host @kuanwencomedy thought the Chappell Roan Pink Pony Club late discovery was a perfect analogy but the reference was lost.
