Have you ever read and re-read the sentence from a #duolingo exercise or story and thought… “Huhmmm, but what are you trying to say???”

Can any Italian Vikrams 🇮🇹 give us a shout?

The latest guest on @comedywithanaccent podcast is Shetland’s proud daughter, comedian, actor and storyteller @marjoleinrobertson ,who has the ability to keep a straight face when she does jokes that are absolute nonsenses but made so believable.

Link to episode see Comedy with an Accent podcast’s bio.

Marjolein is also doing her fantastic show “O” at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival this year. It is at Monkey Barrel The Hive at 5:40pm daily until Aug 25th (no show on the 12th).

Our latest guest on @comedywithanaccent podcast is London based Chinese comedian @blankpeng404 who shared her witty rebuttal 👏🏻👏🏻 whenever audience members approach her to inquire whether the accent is part of a “character”

Maybe the intent wasn’t maliciously, but annoying nevertheless!

On the latest episode of @comedywithanaccent podcast, our guest comedian @mickyoverman shares her ability(tendency?) to shift her accent and mimic the accent(s) of people around her. This notion was quickly challenged by your host @kuanwencomedy as Micky was obviously not picking up any Chinese accent as they talked.

（with good reasons!)

Well obviously the question was a naughty attempt to get Micky into a bit of troubles (was it even sinister?). Micky has enough awareness to resist the accent mimicry in this scenario.

Ahead of my show in Vienna, I think it might be the best time ever to re-post and revisit this clip to show my deep connection to Austria from my childhood.

（OK technically the music was written by an American and the fictional story is around Salzburg but whatever…)

This was part of my @comedywithanaccent interview - season 1 episode 9 - with the first Austrian 🇦🇹 guest @hubsmayr … Just to explain it was recorded on the hottest day in London in 2022 so you see a bit of flesh here (not our usual attires)

Me as a choir boy not only had to sing, I also had to YODEL thanks to the instructor’s fondness of The Sound of Music. But little Taiwanese boys at that age couldn’t quite master the English language yet, so the result is the rather merkwürdig Mandarin version of The Lonely Goatherd.

Our latest guest on @comedywithanaccent is Ivorian-French comedian @arielle.souma Because of an absentee father, Arielle was raised by her white French family 🇫🇷 (in her words “who eats quiches”), a scenario that your host compared to Tarzan as the white french are almost like wild animals when it comes to knowledge of blackness. Despite thejr best intention it did mean Arielle had to put up with racist stuff her family would say and she had to learn from her black friends how to be black … as neither her mum or her knew how to do her own hairs for example. This over-compensating acting out of “blackness” then led to the exaggerated scenarios described in this video, that Arielle herself now could not comprehend and she’d find it hilarious.

My chat on @comedywithanaccent with guest @gino.comedy went from Italian Americans in Little Italy in New York to (as corrected by Gino) Albanians in Little Italy to Pop music and it all led to a silly chat about Dua Lipa and Rita Ora …

Another clip of my @comedywithanaccent interview with the hilarious @gino.comedy who might be a bit just too honest and unfiltered in his language when he was explaining his curious background mix of nationalities (half of a “100% German” mum and an Italian Brazilian dad)

My latest guest on @comedywithanaccent is German 🇩🇪 Brazilian 🇧🇷 comedian @gino.comedy - Brazilian of Italian 🇮🇹🍕🍝 descent. Hence the name “Gino” from Luigi

Initially an innocent chat about how the Portuguese spoken in São Paolo is more sing-songy like Italian and how Gino’s great-grand father had tales of oldest time - crossing the Atlantics on his own in search of a new life, with only a little of money in his pocket … somehow we started talking about how Italian Brazilians overcompensate their “Italianness” similar to Italian Americans and it all went wrong from there.

First how Italian Americans call ARANCINI rice balls (in Gino’s words, “that’s brutal! That’s an offence”). Then subject went on to Little Italy. Then poor Albanians got included with a very strong accusation 🙏🏻

The extended discussion with @jamiewangcomedy on @comedywithanaccent on white male expats in Asia.

You’d think this kind of “alleged” conducts must be urban legends, as in, come on! Would anyone actually say that? That they are so smug about the size of their tools, they think the Asian women they are with should feel lucky and worship them?

Turns out, YES! And it is a very relatable experience for Asian women.
