40 years ago, they made Tour de France history during the first week of the 1986 edition:
➡️ Alex Stieda 🇨🇦, the first North American rider to wear the yellow jersey
➡️ Davis Phinney 🇺🇸, winner of stage 3 and the first North American rider to win a road stage of the Tour de France (Greg LeMond won the time trial on Stage 21 of the 1985 Tour)

Exactly 40 years ago, on July 6, 1986, Davis Phinney 🇺🇸 won in Liévin, the sprint for Stage 3 of the 1986 Tour de France, finishing ahead of Henk Boeve 🇳🇱, Robert Dill-Bundi 🇨🇭, Charly Mottet 🇫🇷, and his other breakaway companions 👊

Just 24 hours after Alex Stieda’s historic yellow jersey, another American rider left his mark on the 1986 Tour de France 🍾

Connie Carpenter Phinney recently joined Ryan Reynolds and others for conversations as part of the More to Parkinson's initiative, sharing her perspective as a care partner and advocate.

Together, they discussed the importance of community and speaking openly about Parkinson's, including symptoms such as hallucinations and delusions that can be difficult for individuals and families to talk about.

It is not often I get to tell my story and especially to relive my 1984 Olympic Road Race and talk about the hardest part: that @davisphinney raced the same day and why making a phone call home meant so much to me. And too, how lucky I am to still be able to explore on my bike and find awe in the natural world. Keep going.
