Today’s climate march calling our leaders to refuse fossil fuels and support action for a livable future. Joe Manchin has opposed the climate initiative of the Build Back Better proposal. He has lined his pockets with money from the coal and oil industry (still holding millions in coal stocks) and is now putting the future of our nation and planet at risk. The Unites States is now going to Glasgow empty handed. We must come together to show that we will not let this go on quietly. The people making these decisions will not have to live with the consequences of them but we will. We must stand together for our generation and our future. The passing of SB2575 has been a massive victory in our fight against deep sea bed mining but the fight is not over yet.

During today’s public hearing almost 2 straight hours of testimony were shared by individuals from across the globe urging NOAA to deny TMC’s consolidated application to begin Deep Sea Mining in the Clarion Clipperton Zone.

More people were in the hearings que to share testimony then there was time for during the hearing. This is an awesome problem to have! The people showed up, and we made our voices heard. I myself did not make it off of the que to speak during the call, but I am sharing my testimony here and submitting it to NOAA as written comment.

You don’t have to be an expert on Deep Sea Mining for your comment to make an impact. You can simply write “My name is ___. I am from (country or state you’re from) and I urge NOAA to deny TMC’s application.” Make your comment personal by sharing why you care about the ocean and why preventing Deep Sea Mining is important to YOU! For ocean health, human health, future generations, whatever it may be! YOU can make a difference by submitting your comment to NOAA before October 19th, 2026. Together we can defend our Moana.

COMMENT “DEFEND THE DEEP” AND WE WILL SEND YOU OUR ACTIONS

The U.S. is leading a race to the bottom. Placing communities across the U.S. and the Pacific on the frontlines of unproven seabed mining projects, the U.S. thinks that they can “unleash” this emerging technology without our consent.

It’s time for us to stand in solidarity with communities like those in American Samoa. It’s time for us to speak up and register our dissent.

We understand so little about the deep sea. We’re still discovering new species and entirely new ecosystems. What we do understand is that what damage is done to our deep seabed cannot be undone. With such threats to marine food webs and ocean-climate health, we must call out the false narratives pushed by seabed mining companies and show the Trump Administration that our seafloor is not for sale.

Hawai’i stands with American Samoa and our Moana against deep-sea mining!

Today the federal government announced an offshore lease sale in American Samoa waters to mine 31 million acres of Pacific seabed —
to fast-track commercial mineral extraction and
ignoring Pacific communities voices and American Samoa’s moratorium.

Mother Ocean is our Life-Support System, where life began.
She regulates our climate, provides the waters we drink, the food we eat, and 50–80% of the oxygen we breathe.

Threats to the Ocean harm every economy, community, culture, living being, and the common heritage of humankind.

💙 Water is life and connects us all.
