🌈Life on the moors episode 1🦢

Here on the Somerset Moors (aka Levels, don't ask, another time) we need to keep our houses toasty and warm in the vain effort to keep away the damp. As old Harold Hembrow quite correctly said - "you'll never get rid of it, just put up with it". At 0m above sea level our houses are leaning into the river - known as "heavage" and we are all proper on the wonk.

The road can be quite busy in the mornings with yummy mummies (and daddies) using our road as a short cut to get their little darlings to learn 2 +2 at school. So, sorry if you were delayed by 1 minute. Also the massive lorries can also go and fornicate elsewhere (unless on farm business).
🤔 Apart from that I had a lovely time stacking all those logs, @thyme2skate helped as much as she could but had to rush off to wander around a National Trust property with her mate.

🌀Calais Beach, France! A World class skatepark! Not far from the ferry/Le Shuttle!
🌀Here, at suboptimalskater we have loved this skatepark for a good few years now and always factor it in on our Euro travels. Great to pop to when coming in or out of France if you are from the UK. Below are the ratings!
......🇫🇷Obstacles - 8. A massive bowl, great street section and a fun snake flow area. Also great for just rolling around checking out the French news.
.......🥖Vibe - 7 always friendly and plenty of space. Can get busy ofcourse, watch out for peoples hats falling off - Mon chapeau!
.......🥐Parking - 10. Park right next to it for free!
.......🇫🇷Bogs - 5. There is one here, but it was out of order. Didn't fancy going in to a cafe and asking, personally.
........🍟Quality - 7. Pretty new and well maintained, no damage to be seen
........🧄Flow - 8. Excellent in the bowl of course and lovely big space for merde skaters like suboptimalskater to think they are better than they are.
.........🍷cleanliness - 7. Hardly anything to pick up.
...........🇫🇷Innovation - 9. A well designed skatepark with loads of interesting bits.
.........🧄grub - 4. Lots of cafes about, but probably more expensive than Lidls. Probably best to take own supplies. No water fountain either. TOTAL 65%! Which is very good!

🌀Area 51 in Eindhoven. The largest indoor skatepark in the Benelux region!
🌀Park nearby on the street if you can, otherwise it's quite expensive in the local carparks. Of course try and get a train, or if you are local, it's not a problem.

🌀The whole achingly hip Strijp-S area is a former factory site for Philips, where the CD was invented - with Brothers in Arms by Dire Straits being the first million selling CD. Also the cassette was invented here and the Philishave system! Thanks so much @pepijndejonge for this information.
🌀The skatepark is great and parent friendly up to a point - they are not allowed in! Of course suboptimalskater was strutting his stuff which allowed Curload's finest short form video editor @cooperinho1 to get down to business.

🌀Sessions about 8 Euro. Closed Monday. Times 15:00 -18:00 and 18:00-22:00
🌀Lots of scooterists.

⛪Yes!, church and camping mixed together equals "Champing"!
⛪A clever idea from the @churchesconservationtrust , to get a bit more wonga for the old church roof fund (yes it did leak). We stayed at St. Barnabus in Queen Camel in sunny Somerset and a great time we had too!
⛪We were met by 'church mice' that welcomed us very nicely, but made it clear that we were not too run off with the roof lead.
⛪We had our own beds, cooking facilities and bogs. AND CAKE!
⛪The building had all the old bits that are interesting and some really cool 1970s lights that I will post in a story.
⛪So, go and Champ people!

⛪To be clear, England's smallest parish church still in use.
⛪Go and look at it yourself and look it up on Wikipedia. It's what I did.
⛪Thanks @charlie_mcfarley for the tip off.
⛪Park in Purlock Weir and walk along the King Charles III coast path west for almost 2 miles, and bobs yet uncle.
⛪Thanks to the folk who look after this beautiful building, a lovely place to visit.

⛰️Burrow Mump is the same height AS 12 PETER CROUCHES
⛰️it's free to park at the bottom of the hill and only takes a few minutes to walk up if you don't have mobility issues.
⛰️There is no Starbucks at the top, but a great view of the Somerset Levels. If you look closely you may see two pigeons arguing in nearby Othery.
⛰️Make sure to bring some snacks, as picnics are all the rage in these parts.
⛰️ Be careful though of locals, as loads of them live round here.
⛰️Also don't drop litter.
⛰️cos that's illegal.

🌲England's tallest tree!
🌲At the amusingly named Nut Combe Bottom! Nr Minehead, Somerset!
🌲At 63m tall this rivals other things that are a similar height, for example a 63 metre building or viaduct.
🌲Cum and see for yourself, why not. Just a short distance past history's Dunster Castle you will find yourself right up the junction on a tiny country road and will delight in the free parking at the Forestry England site. Where a short loop will take you to this mighty beast, England's tallest Magnolia and Britain's tallest Redwood.
🌲it's very peaceful here as masses fail to make it this far off the beaten track (it really isn't). But shhush, don't tell everyone😉
