Men say they know many things;
But lo! they have taken wings, —
The arts and sciences,
And a thousand appliances;
The wind that blows
Is all that any body knows.

One wading a Fall meadow finds on all sides
The Queen Anne’s Lace lying like lilies
On water; it glides
So from the walker, it turns
Dry grass to a lake, as the slightest shade of you
Valleys my mind in fabulous blue Lucernes.

The beautiful changes as a forest is changed
By a chameleon’s tuning his skin to it;
As a mantis, arranged
On a green leaf, grows
Into it, makes the leaf leafier, and proves
Any greenness is deeper than anyone knows.

Your hands hold roses always in a way that says
They are not only yours; the beautiful changes
In such kind ways,
Wishing ever to sunder
Things and things’ selves for a second finding, to lose
For a moment all that it touches back to wonder.

Small olives taste best.
Small stars shine farthest.
Small birds call most sweetly.
Small lives,
we are small, small lives.

Thank you to everyone who came to see us at Bushwick Open Studios this past weekend! It was such a joy to talk mushrooms with everyone who stopped by DECAY + RENEW and great to meet some of the other participating artists, as well. Showing with Ethan Long and Allister Klingensmith was a privilege. Of course, The Daniel was instrumental in getting me and my artwork to and from Brooklyn, installing and de-installing, and the care and feeding of artists and viewers alike. And many thanks to Allister and Lindsay for hosting ❤️ #bushwickopenstudios @lindsayeylers by @corey.fecteau

Every day
I see or hear
something
that more or less

kills me
with delight,
that leaves me
like a needle

in the haystack
of light.
It was what I was born for -
to look, to listen,

to lose myself
inside this soft world -
to instruct myself
over and over

in joy,
and acclamation.
Nor am I talking
about the exceptional,

the fearful, the dreadful,
the very extravagant -
but of the ordinary,
the common, the very drab,

the daily presentations.
Oh, good scholar,
I say to myself,
how can you help

but grow wise
with such teachings
as these -
the untrimmable light

of the world,
the ocean’s shine,
the prayers that are made
out of grass?

Thanks to Hope Childers for inviting me to be a visiting artist in her Landscape class! We went outside today and found drawings, marks, forms, textures, colors, and all kinds of inspiration in nature. And thanks to Zach Hamm for pic 2. #artsatalfred #outsideofordinary by @corey.fecteau
