Bloom Presents: Unplugged Open Mic - Friday Night at Finn’s Irish Pub

Last Friday was fantastic, the connections were exactly what you expect from a Bloom night and it feels magical every time.

Bloom Wouldn’t be what it is without the people who are there.

Cory was also back hosting again, which made the whole night feel like home.

@corywking received a wholesome thank you from @iz22zy for his 14 years serving with @pinkwigfoundation as cofounder and President. The amount of lives he has changed through this foundation is more than you can fathom, and he deserves a better thanks than we can ever give.

This one is hard.

After 14 years, I’ve officially stepped down from the Pink Wig Foundation board and as President.

A few days ago at the AGM, it became official. I knew it was time, but that didn’t make it easy.

Pink Wig started in 2012 while Tracy was still alive. After her diagnosis, we kept thinking, “We need to do something.” Truth is, we had no idea what the fuck we were doing.

That first fundraiser raised around $40,000. What started with a small group of friends and family has now helped more than 100 women across Saskatchewan.

Pink Wig gave me a place to put my grief and a way to keep Tracy’s legacy alive. It also taught me more than I ever could have imagined about people, relationships, community and simply saying yes and figuring the rest out along the way.

To every board member, musician, donor, volunteer, sponsor, business, family member and friend who ever gave your time, money, talent or support, thank you.

Every dollar. Every hour. Every song. Every helping hand. Every idea. All of it mattered.

To every woman and family Pink Wig has supported, and to our fallen angels, thank you for letting us be a small part of your lives.

And to the caregivers: I see you. I really do.

To Tracy’s parents and entire family, I have nothing but love and respect for you.

I’m incredibly proud of what Pink Wig has become. The board is the strongest it’s ever been, and I know they’re going to kill it.

Tracy, you never chose any of this. You shouldn’t have had to. But somehow, out of something so fucking unfair, something beautiful grew.

Pink Wig exists because of you.

Thank you for the life you gave me, the people you brought into my life, and for teaching me that even when you don’t know what the fuck you’re doing, you can still start something that matters.

Bloom Entertainment Presents: Unplugged Open Mic

We are all about creating a welcoming, supportive space where everyone feels comfortable performing, whether it’s your first time or your hundredth. We put a lot of care into making sure the sound is dialed in, and you feel welcomed and supported, so you can focus on what matters most, playing your music.

One thing we always try to end the night with is a Bloom Jam, an open invitation for anyone to jump on stage and be part of the music. Maybe you’ve never performed before. Maybe you don’t know all the chords. Maybe you’ve just always wondered what it feels like.

That’s exactly what the Bloom Jam is for.

We do our best to help create a space where there’s no pressure to be perfect. It’s about expression, having fun, making music together, and realizing there’s no right or wrong way to join in. If you’ve ever had the urge to step on stage, this is your chance. We are excited to have Uncle Coco back this week leading the jam!

The Great Sticker Debacle -

Saul ordered Bloom stickers.

Cory did not double check his dimensions.

Now there are hundreds of tiny Bloom stickers and only one reasonable solution: hide them everywhere.

Consider this the unofficial launch of the Bloom Sticker Treasure Hunt. If you find one, take a photo, post it, tag us.

Hint: We have even started to put them in random locations at the venues we host shows. lol

Not exactly what was planned, but here we are. If this somehow catches any steam, we’ll talk prizes.

What a night it was. Celebrating our very own Uncle Coco’s birthday in true Bloom fashion.

To everyone who came out and made the night extra special, we thank you.
