POSTS STORIES REELS TAGGED
Lately, this platform has been relentlessly badgering me to “boost” my latest reel, which means that I have to hear snippets of my own voice over and over and over again. I’ve tried telling the app I’m not interested, but to no avail.

It got me thinking about what I actually intended for this space, because Lerd knows, it wasn’t to be constantly pestered about the opportunity to pay for my posts to reach more people. taken in Buenos Aires, Argentina by @craftymabel

Part Two of the franken-jacket!!!
.
Oh and guess what, in the process of sewing and trying on, the other sleeve started to peel so this is going to be part two of who knows how many 🫠🫠🫠 taken in Buenos Aires, Argentina by @craftymabel

Yep, I did recycle another garment (this one a thrifted scarf that I got for $1.50) without remembering to take a before picture or film any of the process.
.
But I can tell you it's super soft and a burn test says it's probably cotton.

Chugging along on the franken-jacket with a few starts and stops. Hoping to finish this week so I can actually start wearing her again!

Woke up to temps in the 30s (10s if you're into the whole Celsius thing), so ohhh nooo, Dallas had to wear his handknit sweater. #knitdogsweater #dogsweater taken in Saavedra, Distrito Federal, Argentina by @craftymabel

Am I the only one who is constantly navigating life with a 99% memory full on my phone?

Decided this was too pretty to live in the stories.

A freshly cast off, not quite finished lamp cover knit in lace wool on 2.75mm needles.

Next up, a border and a block and an extra pair or hands so I can seam her onto my ugly living room lamp.

I want to be one of those people who moves into an apartment and spends the first month putting up their gallery wall. But that’s just not me.
.
I’ve been here over a year and I’m decorating one piece by one piece. The wall looks unbalanced and unfinished and I’m just living with it because, welp, my attention is elsewhere. But every little new thing feels like a victory.
.
This project doesn’t have a pattern. I just had some recycled yarn and a vision and a stick that Dallas brought inside. The yarn is an angora blend from a thrifted poncho I found in Chile.

Y’all, 2026 hasn’t been kind so far, not for me, not for many people. But the things that are bringing me joy are all right here:

💌 Handmade decor: I’ve knit and crocheted a lot of projects for the house, the most recent being this pouf cover and filet crochet dishrag. Maybe this is the month that I get around to knitting a sister for my crochet throw pillow.

💌 My rug that I bought on facebook marketplace: It has some blemishes but I’m glad I went with a secondhand option instead of something new and cheaply made.

💌 My trash treasures: There are five items in this reel that I found in the street, including the plant, the pole I’m using to support the plant, two baskets, and my set of chairs

This is my oasis, my place of peace and rest. Where I spend time with my guys and read and watch movies and listen to podcasts about stupid stuff that makes me smile.

I’m so tired of Instagram being a place of connectionless consumption. So please, comment below and tell me where you’ve been finding joy, what you’ve been working on, how you’ve been.

I didn’t post as much in 2025 as I have in the past, but the fiber arts never slowed down.
.
This year, I knitted in 5 different countries, I recycled yarn from well-loved sweaters, I pretended that I’m a crochet girly.
.
I knitted at home, on buses, in cars, on planes, at the park, in museums, at film festivals, friend’s houses, in the woods and at the beach.
.
I made items for friends with new babies and toddlers and my niece and my grandma. I made things for Dallas. I made things to donate and to make my home feel more like my own. I made things for myself, to come back to earth.
.
Most of it happened without being filmed, which is probably a good thing. taken in Saavedra, Distrito Federal, Argentina by @craftymabel
