Trans Day of Visibility 2026
8 of my 32 years continuing to become and the love and openness to create who that looks, feels and moves as. My transness has shifted since beginning to step into myself and I look forward to what my movement looks like as I continue. My visibility wouldn’t be possible without the folks who came before me, the folks who continue to die and fight for us and the people who surround and love me. Work in progress_Celestial 2025. Celestial was used as a colonial-era descriptor of Chinese people. While not inherently derogatory, its use related to a broader racist trope, “yellow peril”to allude to “otherness” and “exotic” perception by the white people in the West. This term fell out of context and use to name Chinese people and has since been accepted in relation to astronomy and spirituality. This piece lends to both, the use of the word for otherness, creating the colonial pressures toward assimilation but presented in its modern understanding of the word in an ethereal installation. A showing of Western assimilation intersecting transness and queerness Source: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Celestial_Empire?wprov=sfti1# by @creatingnotfinding
