Had the pleasure of snapping some BTS pics while on set with @unmatchedfilm and @mrapinoe !
She was thoughtful, funny, and truly the swaggiest person I’ve ever been in the presence of.

Thats a wrap, for now. (😉)

Over a year of getting to know Alx, and an immense honor to be welcomed to document the process behind his Nez Perce naming ceremony.

Huge thanks to @crows_shadow for opening their doors to our production, @nwdoc @zp.productions and @desertislandstudiospdx for supplementing gear across production trips, @sarahperezmedia for saying yes to an idea before it had legs, and @jessiesears for helping our crew navigate sacred territory.

It takes a village, and this is just the beginning. Thank you to @regionalarts for believing in Alx’s story and supporting production costs.

Typically abundant street poles turned barren overnight last month in Portland, Oregon.

What happened to the layers upon layers of community postering? The lost pet flyers, upcoming shows, handwritten manifestos, “are you gay?” tests taped crookedly to utility poles.

Why would the city get rid of the living, breathing bulletin boards built into every street corner?

Lineman safety. Fire safety. Because posting signs on city-owned telecommunications equipment is illegal.

And while they’re well within their right, the move struck me as an interesting choice.

It sounds like something another city would do. Not Portland.

The charm of telephone poles layered in punchy flyers and quirky events is part of what made me fall in love with a city that still felt community-centered.

By the second week of working on this photo series, the poles had already started to restore themselves.

You can take the posters from the poles, but you’ll never keep a community from finding itself.

All crows lead to Portland <3

The White Stag building is the first place I held a cinema camera. Our grad school cohort met two floors under the glowing sign and each 6pm class, like clockwork, the crows would flock in and make themselves known. I was never able to capture it then because of class or whatever, but no excuses anymore.

Shot on Canon C70, colored in DaVinci. The C70 is def not known for her low light capabilities, but I had fun bringing her back to life in post!
