Poster series for the current show ‚Terminal Piece‘, on view until 7 February 2027 @mumok_vienna

Unfolding across five floors, ‚Terminal Piece‘ brings together works from the collection alongside new productions and external loans. By proposing new ways of considering the museum and its collection in their entirety and complexity, it presents a vision for the future.

Beginning with Kate Millett’s work ‚Terminal Piece‘ the exhibition questions how we position ourselves in relation to the artwork and how our position may have already been shaped.

The prologue by scenographer and costume designer Anna Viebrock transforms mumok’s ground level in its entirety and revealing spaces that usually remain unseen.

The final act features new works by Nina Porter, making a proposition for the future.

Amelie Karweick (b. 1993 in Dortmund, Germany) lives and works in Düsseldorf. She graduated from the Kunstakademie Düsseldorf in 2025 as a Meisterschülerin of Trisha Donnelly.
Her work has been featured in group presentations at Clementin Seedorf at Art Cologne 2025 and at the Kunstverein fur die Rheinlande und Westfalen, Düsseldorf, as part of ‚Jahresgaben‘, prior to her first solo exhibition at zaza‘, Naples in July 2026.
Karweick is a recipient of the dHCS-studio fellowship at the Mataré-Haus, Düsseldorf.
For this exhibition she presents a new body of sculptures and drawings made in 2025 and 2026.

André Thomkins (1930 - 1985) was a Swiss artist who lived and worked in the Rhineland for more than twenty years. He moved to Rheydt in 1952 and taught painting and graphic arts at the Kunstakademie Düsseldorf from 1971 to 1973. He participated in documenta 5 (1972) and documenta 6 (1977), and had numerous solo exhibitions, including presentations at the Weserburg Museum für Moderne Kunst, Bremen (2019); Kunstmuseum Liechtenstein, Vaduz/Kunsthalle Düsseldorf (2013); Kunstmuseum Basel (2013, 1977); and Galerie Spoerri, Dusseldorf (1971).
Thomkins‘ multi-faceted œuvre was strongly influenced by Surrealism and the Dada movement, and his interest in parapsychology, utopian town planning, philosophy and literature. His work ranges from mostly small-scale pencil and ink drawings and watercolours to paintings, objects, and sculpture.
