POSTS STORIES REELS TAGGED
“I have personal stories pulling me almost umbilically toward several other artworks in this exhibition too. It is almost too private, the way I feel.”

– Ariana Reines on ‘Terminal Piece‘

The catalogue accompanying ‘Terminal Piece‘, mumok’s sweeping inaugural exhibition spanning five floors, featuring contributions by Gregg Bordowitz, Rachel Cusk, Kate Millett, Amanda Holmes, and Ariana Reines, is now available in the mumok shop and online.

To mark the launch, acclaimed New York poet and artist Ariana Reines joins us at mumok for a reading from her essay ‘The Waiting Room‘. The text reflects on the unspeakable themes at the heart of ‘Terminal Piece‘ and the exhibition itself: politically charged silence and Reines’s own experience of living as a woman in the world.

We’re excited to announce our forthcoming group exhibition “I, etcetera”, with works by Julie Becker, Chan Hau Chun, Oto Gillen, Robert Glück, and Danae Io, as well as further contributions by Alex Kitnick, Doreen Mende, and Fiona Vilmer.

At the center of “I, etcetera” is an engagement with artistic subjectivity as always processual and relational. From this premise, the exhibition also turns its attention to the Kunstverein itself, considering the ways in which it assumes and articulates a subjectivity of its own. It asks how narrative strategies and speculative propositions, operating across artistic practices and institutional(ized) processes alike, participate in producing the relations through which the self takes form.

Please save the date and join us for the opening on Friday, September 18, 6 to 10 pm. Gloria Hasnay, director of the Kunstverein, will give an introduction at 7 pm.

We’re looking forward to seeing you there!

“I, etcetera” is supported by the Ministry of Culture and Science of the State of North Rhine-Westphalia and the Kunststiftung NRW.
