People that know me know I'm a half-German, left-handed OCD pedant with painful librarian tendencies, but surely I can't be the only one who reads 'lockup' [and especially the following 'his lockup'] here in the @guardian and visualises Diddy's rented garage or storage unit rather than the place where he's been incarcerated? Is this a particularly bad case of thesaurus creep, and/or further evidence of slipping standards at The Graun? What are your thoughts, fellow grammar nerds? by @curdins

And so to the penultimate day of our trip to my old stomping ground: today, the Purley Way, and long before IKEA I had a temp job through the George Street Brook Street Bureau agency at the Habitat there; the inevitable warehouse work option was a mix of juvenile farting around with old packaging turned into projectiles to kick about, and then subsequent macho box opening with the biggest kitchen department knives requiring several stitches to the fingers. Fortunately as a bit of an effeminate type, I got latched onto by one of the lovely, trendy window-dressing arty student types, and got involved in that instead. Happy days. taken in IKEA Croydon by @curdins

Yesterday Central Croydon; today a bit further south, where I grew up: the much-maligned New Addington. taken in New Addington by @curdins

Croydon's Whitgift Centre refurbishment coming along nicely - a delight to witness such fast-paced improvements for a local lad like me after years of neglect. The town, not me. taken in Venice, Italy by @curdins

When your cycling friend & recent guest to ride the @5milamarche is back in his day job as a commercial pilot, and tells you he's flying directly over your house at @casalevolpe, why wouldn't you believe him? Must have been a day for tidying the house down here on terra firma, and certainly not topping up the tan. taken in Regione Marche by @curdins

@casalevolpe sheltering to the bottom left of both pics, bathed in autumn colours, morning and evening light, taken from across the valley of the Ete Morto river (more like a seasonal brook, babbling), in the hamlet of Salti. Thanks, @ktarag ❤️ taken in Sant'Angelo in Pontano by @curdins

Cycling the way we like it: hilly 20km to a coffee stop with a breathtaking panorama, then hilly 20km back and a beer stop.
No, we aren't gonna set the racing world on fire, but bloody hell we're having a good time. Sometimes being old and uncompetitive really does seem rather splendid. taken in Regione Marche by @curdins

I do like a bit of engineering, and the grand opening of our local oleificio Tritrini in new premises was a chance to marvel at some lovely kit whilst greeting friends over wine and porchetta buns. A real opportunity for our lovely little village, proof that these places are bucking the depopulation trend and reinforcing a vital sense of community. Good luck Monia, Fabio and family - we wish you all the very best. by @curdins

Ah, AI is going to solve all our problems, isnt it? You limit my access to FB features I need for my business from today because I reposted someone's post about a missing dog in my local area, back in April, for a non-defined breach of ridiculous reasons that don't hold water. I go through some opaque, non-sensical appeals process, send a message to you, get no response from you, am blocked at that point - no way out of the screen, no closing of the feedback loop - then 90 minutes later you tell me I haven't responded, so the conversation is over. So where are we at, Facebook? If this is progress, worth setting the world on fire for, then f*ck me: I'm out. Meta, Facebook, Instagram - you're just awful. by @curdins

It's a fact that scares our bank manager. Precisely 73.6% of our disposable income goes on feed, sunflower seeds and tinned sweetcorn for these bubbleheads. But when you're getting roughly 5 eggs a day, and 6 cost what? €2? €3? From happy, cared-for, 99% organic free-ranging chooks, it's a positive financial relationship. And they're lovely birds, too. Great conversation.

Oh yeah, I forgot: f*ck AI, b*llocks to Trump, screw you Farridge, cock-off Techbro nobbers - most of us want a gentle, caring existence, right? Freedom for Tooting! by @curdins

On the road again! Getting my bikie mojo back means winter training starts here, in 28° centigrade and short everything. Enjoyed that - a short, intense blast around the never-ending up-and-down roads around here; glad to still be able to do this. It's a masochistic love of putting myself through the wringer, to see how deep I can go; it's the ultimate mental health tonic, really. taken in Massa Fermana by @curdins
