And Sunday in Slovenia is all about family, food and nature - the shops stay firmly closed. As it should be I wonder?
Amazing roasted chestnuts, cake and fresh apple juice at a festival up in the hills above Ljubljana.
Lovely to see @brinaminca family, thank you for the delicious foraged mushroom risotto for tea.

There is nothing nicer than a place feeling so very familiar yet also revealing more of itself.
A solo trip to Ljubljana to spend time with my lovely family.
We have filled up on beautiful places, great art and good food.
We visited @galerijabj which is amazing, I especially enjoyed Kristian Kozul’s ‘1573 Fools, Villains & Castles’. Sadly there is a distinct lack of women artists in the permanent collection - where are they all?
Back in Ljubljana and a visit to @mgplusmsum where no one had told the staff the museum was free which was funny.
Great work there as always

Nima Kozelj’s ‘Flowjob’ &
Nirka Soap’s ‘Vacumminations 2.0’

The next ‘Sew Social’ will be on Wednesday the 7th of October at a slightly later time than usual - 2 until 4 @12barmusicandsocial on Paris street.
It’s a simple idea - come and join us to sit and sew, drink great coffee and chat.
Either bring along project to work on or we can delve into my @exeterscrapstore suitcase for a little something for you to stitch.

Well, here’s a thing….I will have been working @exeterscrapstore for a whole year on the 11th of this month. And what a busy year it’s been, we’ve made a volunteer/workshop space, refitted the shop, spruced up the warehouse and thankfully had wonderful volunteers join us to make all this possible.
That along with settling into life in a new city means art has taken a bit of a back seat. I’ve been waiting to see what happens and enjoyed letting art and life just merge.
As the Ai Weiwei postcard on my studio wall says ‘Life is art, art is life, I never separate it’.
This weekend I have enjoyed making little junk figures that hold up and connect without fixings, instead holding up under their own tension. They can therefore be easily returned to a pile of scrap at the end of the day. Like a children’s box or bricks. Perfect playing. Not sure where this is going, if anywhere, but enjoying the journey.

Another lovely ‘Sew Social’ @12barmusicandsocial this morning. Such a good spot to sit and sew, all are welcome to join us either with your own project or repair or there is always a project in my little @exeterscrapstore suitcase.

Looking forward to gathering to stitch @12barmusicandsocial this week on Wednesday 2nd from 11 until 1.
This is a gentle opportunity to sit with other people and sew, either working on a project of your own or finding something to do in my little @exeterscrapstore suitcase.
The conversation always meanders from stitch to life and back again.
Oh, and the coffee and music is always good!
All levels of sewing ability welcome.

Another joyful ‘Sew Social’ @12barmusicandsocial this morning.
I am loving how our number grows organically each month. Today it was great to welcome Sarah, along with Gwen & Dan from @aurorathehoarder
There was embroidery, art textiles, book cover stitching, badge making and repairs on the table. Everyone is welcome - whatever your sewing confidence and there is always a little project in the @exeterscrapstore suitcase if you’re not sure what to bring.
The next session is on Wednesday 2nd September from 11 until 1.

It’s such a nice marking of time to do something once a month.
And what could be nicer than hosting a gathering of people gently stitching @12barmusicandsocial
Everyone is welcome, I bring along my little suitcase of @exeterscrapstore haberdashery and have a little project - so bring your own stitch or pick up a project.
We gently chat and drink great coffee as we sew.

What a good way to celebrate our 31st Wedding Anniversary- a day trip to Bristol to hang out with our family.
First stop the Cheese Lane shot tower - beautifully brutalist and practical - we might have to make a pilgrimage to the few remaining shot towers scattered across the uk. Fascinated by the idea the molten lead when dropped from a height forms a perfect sphere.
And also the @arnolfiniarts to see the two fantastic exhibitions there -
Polly Braden has told the story of our costal towns with such care.
Jonathan Baldock has created space for people to cuddle into folk art.
Both shows are joyful and political - the best of art.

We’ve printed and pricked detritus and also cleared out from under the bed.
Paul has a collection of felted things for sale and I’ve a pile of prints from previous projects for the knockdown, ones only sale price of £5 each.
