I’ve known Katherine since our university days and she’s one of the brightest and warmest souls I have ever known, as well as one of the strongest.

Katherine has been fighting stage 4 cancer with incredible spirit for years, but now - due to a bureaucratic technicality - the NHS are no longer able to fund her vital ENHERTU chemotherapy. Her only way to access this life-extending drug is to pay for it herself at the costs of £7000 for every 3 week cycle.

All money raised here will go direct to Katherine to support these costs and help her (and her amazing 8-year old, Poppy) afford to continue with this essential treatment.

——

As tradition demands, I will be undertaking a physical challenge to encourage good people to donate to this very worthy cause.

On November 13th I will be attempting to complete 3000 push-ups in 12 hours. The most I’ve done in one sitting before is 2000, so this seemed like a suitable upgrade!

Of course, the challenge is just a way to bring your attention to Katherine’s situation, and hopefully to get you to give generously to support her and her daughter in their time of need. So get donating!

THE NIGHT MISSION: SPIRIT OF THE WARRIOR

Every Night Mission has a theme. This October, it’s the oldest one there is.

Across every age and every culture, warriors have been forged by the same virtues: courage in the face of fear, discipline when no one is watching, endurance when the body wants to stop, loyalty to those beside you, and humility before the challenge ahead.

On the 23rd, we train them. Not in theory, but in the dark, on the streets, through the hours when the city sleeps.

You’ll be tested alone and as a team. You’ll meet your limits and find out what lies beyond them. And when the sun comes up, you’ll know which of these virtues you already carry, and which you still need to earn.

NIGHT MISSION DETAILS

DATE: Friday 23rd October
DURATION: 9pm–Dawn
STARTS AT: @pkgenlondon
THEME: Spirit of the Warrior

The warrior’s path has always begun in darkness. Walk it with us.

ONLY 16 PLACES AVAILABLE. BOOK NOW VIA THE PARKOUR GENERATIONS APP.

Physical Literacy vs the Delusion of Safety(ism)

I’m honoured to be presenting again at the fantastic Dissecting Aerial symposium in London this November.

Tickets available now ⬇️

The Big One just got bigger! Meet the final two speakers joining our evening session at Dissecting Aerial on Saturday 7th November (5.15–9.15pm).

From parkour to site-specific aerial dance, Dan Edwardes (photo 1) and Joanna Haigood (photo 2) complete The Big One line-up with a challenge to our risk-averse culture and a celebration of nearly 50 years of adventure.

Here’s what’s coming your way:

@dan_edwardes, founder and CEO of Parkour Generations and a founding figure of Parkour UK, will be presenting ‘Physical Literacy versus the Delusion of Safety-ism’ - on why building real physical capability and confidence matters more than trying to eliminate risk altogether. Dan has taught movement and physical literacy in over 40 countries and is as curious about human movement as when he began.

Joanna Haigood, Artistic Director of Zaccho Aerial Dance @zacchosf, will be presenting ‘Curiosity as Practice’ - a reflection on how curiosity and adventure have sustained Joanna through almost 50 years of creative practice. Celebrated for work staged in extraordinary architectural and natural environments worldwide, Joanna has mentored generations of aerial artists, and we’re incredibly lucky to have her join us at Jacksons Lane.

Together with Dr Nicky Keay and Ana Prada, that makes four brilliant voices across health, movement and creative practice.

The Big One takes place between 17.15-21.15, with up to 120 in-person tickets available. Tickets cost £40. Recordings can also be purchased - see below.

TICKETS:

🎟️ In-person tickets are on sale now and include automatic access to the recordings afterwards.

📹 If you can’t join us in-person, you can purchase the recordings and watch in your own time. Nobody needs to miss out!

Link in bio to buy in-person tickets from Jacksons Lane and recordings from Gravity & Levity.

📆 Saturday 7th November
📍 @jacksons_lane, London

See you soon!

Most people who train think about movement; far fewer think about locomotion. Yet the difference matters more than it appears.

Movement doesn’t require you to go anywhere. Locomotion means travel across terrain - the context in which the human nervous system was actually designed to acquire physical skill.

There are seven fundamental land-based locomotion patterns: walking and running, jumping, vaulting, climbing, brachiating, crawling, and rolling. Most training develops one or two. Parkour is perhaps unique in developing all seven, in combination, across variable real-world environments.

Research consistently shows that external focus - attention on the task and terrain rather than inward on the body - produces faster learning and better transfer of skill. Locomotion forces this condition naturally because the terrain demands it.

The result over years of practice is not conventional fitness: it’s physical intelligence.

So ask yourself honestly, how complete is your locomotion practice?

Anyone who teaches movement knows that the majority of the content in a standard first aid course is fairly limited in its use.

The knowledge a coach actually needs for the vast majority of first aid situations in a class setting is rarely taught.

That’s why ADAPT has created the Movement First Aid course, designed specifically for coaches of parkour, movement, acrobatics, fitness, etc.

And anyone who needs to renew their First Aid, this is a FAR more fun way to do it… 😬

First course launches next month in London. Only 12 places available.

We are incredibly excited to announce the brand new First Aid for Movement Coaches certification!

Most First aid courses are built for offices.

This one isn’t.

27-28 October, London: the first ever accredited first aid course built specifically for movement coaches. Full EFAW certification, plus everything a generic course leaves out: falls, joint injuries, concussion, impact trauma, casualty movement, and more.

Two days. Small groups. Built from the ground up around what actually happens when you coach movement, not what happens at a desk.

This is the first certification of its kind and we are only taking 12 people maximum. Hosted at @pkgenlondon 👊

Link in image to book your place.

This course is delivered in partnership with Clarion First Aid and will be led by Senior Instructor Andy Fisher, an expert in Outdoor First Aid as well as having decades of experience in martial arts and movement.

Spot on. After 20 years of being a coach educator around the world the truth of this is incredibly clear.

Repost from @adaptqualifications

Most coach qualification courses spend their time teaching people how to move, and that’s sub-optimal.

If someone is in the room to become a coach, the movement should already be there. What they’re missing isn’t another drill breakdown, it’s how people learn, how to design a session, how to communicate effectively, how to screen movement, how to read a fault and fix its actual cause, not its symptom.

A course that just teaches the sport again isn’t coach education. It’s a technical camp with a certificate attached, and its creators haven’t understood what coaching actually is.

We usually think fear means "don't do it."

Parkour coach Dan Edwardes sees it differently.

If something scares you—but isn't completely beyond your ability—that fear may be telling you you're exactly where growth happens.

Most people measure aging by birthdays.

Dan Edwardes measures it differently.

Can you still run, jump and climb? Those are three abilities he believes we should fight to preserve throughout life.

The city is different after dark.

Parkour De Nuit - night parkour - is a tradition as old as parkour itself. This October, we take to the streets after dark for one of London’s most extraordinary movement experiences.

NIGHT MISSION DETAILS

DATE: Friday 23rd October
DURATION: 9pm-8am
STARTS AT: @pkgenlondon

In the dead of night, when most are asleep behind closed doors, the city belongs solely to us.

Moving through deserted streets, exploring unseen places, overcoming movement challenges and undertaking tough physical tasks — at night all these activities take on new meaning. Your ears pick up the smallest sounds. Your eyes adapt to low light. Your hands feel every surface variation. The experience is enhanced in every way.

The Night Mission is an all-night guided training event across London. You and your group will be challenged in ways you cannot predict, brought face to face with mental blocks, barriers and adversity of all kinds. You will work together as a team to find solutions to the tasks our expert Night Mission Guides present.

Every Night Mission is themed. Every one involves movement training, physical and mental challenges, skill acquisition, exploration and discovery. We start and finish together. We expect everyone to see the sunrise - with a new perspective on life, and on themselves.

ONLY 16 PLACES AVAILABLE. BOOK FAST VIA THE PARKOUR GENERATIONS APP.

Most of us think: I train hard, so I’m covered.

Dan Edwardes makes a compelling case that we may be wrong.

You can lift, run, ride, climb, stay active — and still slowly lose physical abilities you no longer practice.

Jumping. Balancing. Crawling. Reacting. Moving through unfamiliar environments.

Dan has spent more than two decades practicing and teaching parkour, but this conversation is really about something much bigger: how to stay physically capable across the decades.

We also get into fear, aging, physical literacy, and the difference between being fit and actually being able to use your body well when life asks something unexpected of you.

I came away from this one thinking differently about what I’m training for.

Big thanks to Dan for such a thoughtful and generous conversation. If staying capable matters to you, I think you’ll get a lot from this one.
