I used to grow up reading about other people in SinChew (kind of an og newspaper in 2000s Ipoh I guess) and it's kinda surreal seeing my face and my work so publicly out there. When people from your hometown recognize you, that's when you've passed the point of no return. You've done it now. You're the small town girl turned into a newspaper feature. There's still a long way to go in my story folks, so don't turn off the connection just yet 🌸
W dad for making it in the paper too (he's in the pic on the left)

If you can read mandarin:

"The Night Angel," to be exhibited this month.
.
Some people saw me painting this in @sunnysideup_market (again, thank you sm for having me on board and being so understanding when I was too sick to paint on day 1) but I was honestly too sick to engage in conversation so here's the "why" of this painting. And sorry for the lowkey cringe pose idk how to make it harder for people to steal my images to feed into gpt by @daniellelinart

Thank you to @mia.fineart for nurturing me 5-7 years ago and congratulations to the latest batch of graduates 🤍 thank you @nine.rizan for inviting me over, and @gurrnixx._ for asking such thoughtful questions - and credit to @liu.cheng.hua for all the guidance and support - and - PHOTOS. I feel like his phone is 99% photos of his students and their artwork. I really don't know where I and so many other artists would be if he wasn't always behind us, so a massive thank you to Dr Liu for being directly responsible for the welfare and education of countless young artists.
.
So this post is for my juniors and anyone else studying art to be in the industry. It's not easy but don't give up - people are out here trying to make things better for you 🤍 Good luck! by @daniellelinart

Got 2 AI accusations earlier today and I can't think of much else except how stupid it is. I might not be the most academically accredited person, but I'm definitely one of the most do-it-yourself people who absolutely does not need nor condone the use of AI.
.
Anyway I'll think of a better caption later have a nice week everybody, you don't need to be the smartest, you just need to be smart enough to ask questions. And not blindly accuse people of using AI because you think it looks cool to catch an AI user. by @daniellelinart

There is hope for the arts. Now, I'm not qualified nor arrogant enough to assume that I can speak on behalf of everyone, so take this as you will. And if you are a writer, musician, dancer, actor, or someone from a creative field that I've not mentioned, do feel free to borrow some hope from this post too. by @daniellelinart

The planet will become uninhabitable soon. So let's all just say F you to shallow performances and start doing real art that gives hope and drives humanity for the better. by @daniellelinart

Today I'm bringing up categories. Making pretty visuals do not mean they're from the same industry. I personally differentiate between the 3 professions based on who the person associates with (brands, organizers, art collectives), their intentions behind their work (problem-solving, profit-making, cultural contribution), and who their end consumer is (clients, normal people, collectors.) And this is important mostly to new creatives who are trying to see where they fit in. Though, even if you don't fit into one perfect category, that's fine. by @daniellelinart
