A wellness getaway in Portland that I already want to do again.

Spent the night at @cascada and somehow fit the perfect mix of movement, recovery, and relaxation into one incredible stay.

Waking up to the sunrise, starting my morning with an amazing HIIT class, exploring the stunning atrium pool, and spending the afternoon moving through the underground spa and outdoor thermal experiences.

And of course, finishing it all with a matcha and delicious chia pudding at Alberta Café.

As someone who spends so much time teaching, traveling, and moving, I love finding places that make it easy to take care of both mind and body.

One night wasn’t nearly enough.

Nature rarely draws a straight line.

Throughout CASCADA Bend, architecture takes its cues from the organic forms found in the natural world. Walls curve. Openings soften. Daylight enters from unexpected places. Gardens and plant life become part of the architecture rather than decoration added afterward.

Designed in collaboration with HACKER, these spaces are an expression of the biophilic philosophy at the heart of CASCADA and SolTerra: that the built environment can bring us closer to nature, not separate us from it.

From the moment you arrive, the intention is to create spaces that feel less constructed and more discovered.

For one night, art, sound, texture and community took over CASCADA.

Nicole Hemmerly’s work is shaped by a decade of memory, landscape, music and experimentation. On opening night, those threads extended beyond the work itself, filling the room with the people, energy and creative spirit that make Portland what it is.

I am no longer looking forward to the weekend. At least not to do the rest that I know my body needs. I’ve been wanting to book a spa day for months but kept telling myself that I hadn’t done enough to “treat my self” to it but after a Monday that left me feeling like I’d lived a thousand lives in one day, I decided enough was enough listening to my bodies needs isn’t “treating myself,” it’s a necessity.

2 hours at CASCADA PDX Thermal Springs + Hotel made me feel more like myself than I have in months. Stepping into their outdoor Secret Garden was the much-needed break from my work from home life and immediately felt like stepping into a vacation, and that feeling was further enhanced stepping into the warm, tropical environment of the Conservatory. The warm vitality pool felt like the hug my touch deprived self had been needing.

Relaxation feels so unfamiliar to me that having their hydrothermal circuit available was a great way for me to turn my overthinking brain off and listen to what my body needed. And it turns out that something my body needed was silence. Stepping into the silent underground Sanctuary, I truly felt a weight lift off my chest and I walked out of there feeling like a new person. #nervoussystemreset #selfcare #restoration by @danyafeltzin

Is this a safe space to admit I fell asleep on the daybed by the pool?

@cascadapdx is just so relaxing, every time I go I can't believe this lush oasis is in the heart of Portland, no passport needed.

My favorite order is: The Conservatory, drink a little herbal tea, take in the sight of rare tropical plants, then head to The Sanctuary, where I start off with the Finnish-style dry sauna, go freestyle with the vitality pools, and end with a Hammam inspired steam room. You can tell me all you want how restorative the cold plunge is but the coldest thing I'm participating in is a smoothie from @forbiddenfruitportland. The Secret Garden is a must, I love the sauna with a view followed by a little lounging in the corner, then back to The Conservatory for a little pool time.

What's your favorite spot at @cascadapdx? I just know there's something I'm sleeping on! (besides the daybed)

You may have seen her before… She’s been hanging in the Skylofts at CASCADA with a select collection since we opened. Since then I’ve had quite a few people ask if they could get a print.

Her name is “Inheritance of Light”, and I’m finally releasing her into the wild.

I created this piece as an original digital collage, built through a free-form process of layering images, landscape, color and texture until she became what you see today.

I’m doing a limited release of just 100 prints.

Each will be a 24” × 36” lithograph on beautiful cold press paper with a deckled edge, individually numbered and signed by me, and accompanied by a Certificate of Authenticity.

$250 each.

Before I officially release them, I wanted to give my friends and family first dibs. I think there’s something pretty special about knowing where the first 100 of these end up in the world.
