What actually makes someone want to come back to an event?

It’s a question I’ve spent a lot of time thinking about, and on September 29, I’ll be sitting down with @maximusmsc and the @ama_toronto community to talk about connection, community, trust and the role event experiences can play in building long-term loyalty.

We’ll get into some real talk about what works, what we might need to rethink, and why bringing people together can be such a powerful part of a marketing strategy.

When you write a book, you hope it finds its way into the hands of people who care about the conversations you're trying to start.

So I was genuinely delighted to see "The Forever Attendee Formula" featured in the summer edition of @ignite_magazine.

Farewell Calgary but it's not goodbye. @cd.rom.diaz and I had a blast on the final stop of the Canada road show for this quarter's SailPoint Identity Days.

One of the unexpected gifts of this stage of my career has been finding people within the industry who I can speak to candidly. The kind of conversations where we don’t have to pretend we have it all figured out. Honest discussions about leadership, business, growth, challenges, and where this industry is heading.

I’ve been fortunate to have that kind of connection with Dwayne Rutherford from Debonair Events. We've had many conversations, sparring on ideas, navigating the realities of running independent event agencies, sharing best practices, the occasional “doh” moments, and learning from each other along the way.

I'm looking forward to sharing a deeper review of some of the strategies and philosophies behind my book, "The Forever Attendee Formula: Connection-first event planning that makes business happen" at the upcoming @engagingassociations this July at @rogerscentreottawa.

Events and conferences require a significant investment, not just financially but in time energy, trust and attention. My hope is that these ideas help others with their events and conferences. by @dawncbecker

“Logistics make events run, but relationships make them last.”

As event planners,we spend so much time making sure everything runs smoothly (as we should), but the events people talk about later are rarely about the schedule. It’s usually about the people they met or the conversations they didn’t expect to have. It’s about the connections they make.

That’s really what I was trying to capture in "The Forever Attendee Formula".

I had the opportunity to work with @santoligotti when I was the VP, Events on the Board of the American Marketing Association (AMA), Toronto, where he served as President.

Santo brought a volunteer-led Board with many voices together and aligned us around a shared purpose. Not an easy thing to do, and it says a lot about how he leads.
