It’s my Chatelaine-a-versary!
Four years ago today I put my first stitch into my first Chatelaine, Evening in the Park. Today I’ve finished 22 designs and this hobby / obsession has continued to change my life in so many good ways!

It’s been another big year! Last year at this time I was headed to my first Chatelaine retreat where I met so many other fans (with gorgeous finishes and WIPs!) … then decided to open my Etsy shop (link in bio - give me a ❤️ if you feel inclined. So much new stitchy stuff is coming!)

Thanks so much to Maggi @kitschywips for boosting this newbie on my first post and continuing to encourage/enable me over the last four years, including supporting my fledgling shop! You are still the top Chatelainevangelist and I would not be where I am without you!

Also a huge thank you to ✨Ela✨ who continues the legacy in such a gentle and beautiful way!

Here’s a fun little start and finish I had, starting with this cute little scissor case kit from @wonderlandcrafts.global

I stitched my own design on the front using my own threads but followed the kit design to assemble it. It came together very quickly - I finished the stitching in just one day and put it together this morning.

Added my own fob at the top and put in my favorite red scissors and it’s ready to go! I bought another version of this case and I’d actually like a few more, they are really fun to do.

I purchased mine from @beeyoutifulsipandstitchery online, which is on my top online LNS list! They ship so fast and their prices are so reasonable. Check them out if you haven’t already. 😊

This was my 27th start and 22nd finish of 2026.

A new start on Labor Day, this is Moon Deer by @owlforest.embroidery.eng

I converted this to @cottagegardenthreads with a some help from my bestie at CGT, Martin. I’ll list out the colors when I post next, but I wanted to be sure to show my progress… and let Martin know I took his advice on this flower color. 🌺

28ct light taupe Lugana, this stitch is going fast, I’m already almost a quarter done.

New finish!

Strawberry Fayre Biscornu by @littledovecrossstitch

I started this last fall as a travel project to take to appointments and I put it away when winter came still unfinished (yep, I do that sometimes @aslanscub 😂) Pulled it back out and finished it in just a few days.

I loved this the minute I saw the first post when it was released, that gingham is so adorable!

I did this on a very pale spring green 16ct Aida. I changed the lightest green to DMC 16 and the border colors to bring out the green a little more. I’m going to make some pins for it soon but here it is all FFO’d!

Presenting… Lover Maggie Mae! 🩷🩵🤍

I thought (again) that I was taking a break from stitching another Maggie Mae Swiftie Edition but I caved (again) because she insisted on jumping the WIP line.

As a special treat for @mrsjonesstitches and all the Swifties out there, here’s Maggie Mae from @stacynashdesigns in her 🩷Lover 🩵 bodysuit. This one is covered in sparkly threads and sequins! My very first impression at the Eras Tour was just how *shiny* @taylorswift was 😂 it was almost unbelievable how much she sparkled.

My bunny is not AS ✨sparkly✨but she’s giving it all she’s got! On a galaxy printed Aida in 14ct she’s my first Aida-stitched bunny in the family. My 25th start of the year and my 20th finish. Hope you like her! Go @chiefs !!

This week I had a restart – something I almost never do. This is Cardinal Points by Long Dog Samplers, originally started last New Year’s Eve.

I was so unhappy with the Aida I had selected for this project, it was incredibly stiff and even after stitching the whole center motif it did not soften up. I tried washing it, ironing it… eventually deciding I would look for a replacement fabric on a recent trip to Crossstitch & Crafts in Johnson City.

I ended up with this 22ct Hardanger which is lately one of my very favorite counts. All of a sudden this piece just started rolling. All of these colors are the called-for Gentle Arts and they are just so good.

I subbed out the little dogs for cats I charted myself, and I will have a different quote eventually as well, but I wanted to share how this is coming along after not quite a week of work on it.

I saw this for the first time stitched by @pgsoap and thought it was just beautiful. 🥰 That was literally years ago when Pam was working on this - but it’s been lurking on my to-do list ever since… and here we go!

Always thought this would be my first Long Dog but it’s actually my third… this year. 😂

Anniversary Sampler - First week!

This is the Anniversary Sampler by @chatelaine_designs for the 30th anniversary of Chatelaine Designs in 2027.

This week I finished the border around although I’m leaving space at the bottom while I’m mathing out the quote I’m planning.

I also pulled out my entire silk ribbon stash (doesn’t feel like much to me, but then again a lot for someone who has yet to use a single silk ribbon on anything!) and none of them were appropriately rose-colored. So I ordered some more colors and when they get here I’ll choose the right ones for this piece. Probably.

This design was selected for the 2027 Chatelaine stitch-along and I kitted mine up early so I could bring my kit to retreat last month. And THEN I decided it couldn’t hurt to have another sample stitched version of this one before the stitch-along officially starts! 😊

I have been looking forward to stitching this one for a long time and I’m so excited that so many people are planning to participate. I have some personalizations I’m planning that I’ve posted on the stitch-along Facebook group as I work them through. Please come join us!

Merry Merry Christmas by @rosewood_manor
It’s a finish! My first Rosewood Manor stitch is this Christmas Tree Forest. When I first saw this I knew it was absolutely right up my alley.

I made it my “travel stitch” this year.

An unexpected surprise I didn’t know until I received the pattern was that there were many additional trees, borders and layouts included in the chart- so of course I changed mine up a bit to make it a little more pepperminty.

This was a fun stitch that I highly recommend. I’m thinking of making this into a pillow before the holidays.

Anniversary Sampler - New Start!

This is my start on the Anniversary Sampler by @chatelaine_designs for the 30th anniversary of Chatelaine Designs in 2027.

This design was selected for the 2027 Chatelaine stitch-along and I kitted mine up early so I could bring my kit to retreat last month. And THEN I decided it couldn’t hurt to have another sample stitched version of this one before the stitch-along officially starts! 😊

Seasons of a Brook, week 2

This is the “Summer” segment of “Seasons of a Brook” by @chatelaine_designs

Stitched on 32ct Mandala by Oak Crown Studios.
Amy’s fabric is a dream to stitch on, five stars, no notes.

I included a picture of where I’m headed but the computer generated image doesn’t do this justice, as always.

I also included a photo of my sassy frog needleminder I made as part of our retreat table gifts for the Chatelaine weekend. 🥰 I had a few left so I added them to my shop, link in bio.

So thanks to some inspiration from @mrsjonesstitches , and in honor of august 1, here’s my reputation bunny!

Started with Maggie Mae from @stacynashdesigns and carefully modeled after the Eras Tour original red and black bodysuit worn by @taylorswift, here’s this cute bunny (and some of her friends).

I started with the pdf of this chart and on my iPad drew the bodysuit on, then stitched that resulting chart on some no name fabric I picked up at the Fabric Workshop. DMC black etoile and a lot of red Petite Treasure Braid ❤️🖤

I added a pin that I picked up on Etsy over a year ago but isn’t it so perfect for her????

Anyway I hope you love her and her Swiftie friends all just out here living for the hope of it all. #folklore

New Start!

This is the “Summer” segment of “Seasons of a Brook” by @chatelaine_design

Last week I attended the Queen City Stitch Retreat - Chatelaine Weekend in Charlotte, NC and it was so. much. fun.

Here’s my new Chatelaine start which my friends will tell you was a long time coming! I think I first found this one in March 2025 and immediately started kitting it up. It took me a while to find a piece of fabric that I liked but I ended up with a piece of 32ct Mandala Lugana from @oakcrownstudios in a weird size - 17”x 36” which is perfect for this piece which is very long and not very tall. Amy helped me find that fabric at last years’s Chatelaine retreat but I was still trying to source SIX SKEINS of one elusive thread and took the whole last year trying to find it… finally rescued by my hero Cindy @europeanxs who found it and got it to me just in time!

I got a lot of progress during the retreat I think, and a little more since I got home, including mosquitos? If you thought mosquitoes would not be cute on a cross stitch I suggest you look closer.

By the way, Amy’s fabric is a dream to stitch on, so of course I bought more, please see the photo. 😊 Finally I included a picture of where I’m headed but the computer generated image doesn’t do this justice, as always.
