A short film born from our shared devotion to the body, ritual and the wisdom of women, this film explores the tenderness of living in a changing body within a culture that asks us to remain forever young.

Over four days, we gathered in circle with women of different ages, ancestries, shapes and stories. Through embodied practices and ceremony, we laid on the altar what we’d learned to reject in the privacy of a mirror and practised inhabiting our bodies as sacred ground.

There is money to be made every time a woman learns to recoil at another part of herself. From cosmetics to plastic surgery, entire industries profit when we measure our worth based on how desirable we are. If we’re willing to tell the whole truth, we have to reckon with the ways we’ve helped keep that culture alive.

What have we participated in? Where have we become custodians of the very beliefs that seek to keep us in cycles of perpetual self-hatred? Which features have we learned to reject, when they’re the ones our grandmothers or great grandmothers passed down to us?

In circle, we laid our grief on the earth. We mourned the years spent searching our bodies for flaws and all the pleasure we denied ourselves of because we didn’t feel beautiful enough to enjoy our bodies as they are. Then we danced. We celebrated our bodies in the forms they already take, the flesh that carries us from our first breath to our last. In a culture that profits from our self-rejection, that celebration is a sacred rebellion.

May this video reach those who need to remember. May we we all come home to the body as altar and remember what has always been ours:

Celebrating your body is your fucking birthright.

True magnetism has nothing to do with the absence of fine lines. It comes with the choice to deeply inhabit your body - every crease, mark and trace of a life that has been lived.

A gentle reminder that the thoughts we tell ourselves are often a product of our environment, and very little to do with your intrinsic self worth.

Soul happy 💛 by @demiileeee

Taking Huski back to her spirit land, back to the island where we conceived her, has been its own sort of homecoming. Once held here as a prayer, a white feather, a little wing.... she is now here in our arms, with sandy toes and salt on her skin.

Our little island girl, her soul definitely knows this land and has been lit up since the moment we got here. The days are spilling into one another, ocean and sun, waves and warungs, sleeping beneath the roofs of locally owned bungalows. All the simple things we love, made a whole lot more sacred because our favourite little person is here to share it with us. To a life of voyage my little love 🤍 can't wait to keep tasting different parts of the world with our eyes. by @demiileeee

Perhaps we have mistaken initiation for pathology.

Perhaps birth was never just the birth of a child, but the unveiling of the woman who carried them there.

This post is for every birthing mama, regardless of how her baby enters the world. by @demiileeee

There are versions of yourself you haven’t met yet.

At 52. At 62. At 72. New depths of love, creativity, wisdom and pleasure still to discover.

In this podcast conversation, we explore ageing as an initiation. Making space for who we’re becoming, and finding the community and support to grow through life’s transitions.

What might we look forward to if we gave ourselves permission to embrace getting older?

For anyone afraid of aging, for anyone grieving the collective feminine psyche, for anyone who has felt shame in their body and anyone ready to stop chasing youth and start ripening into eldership and legacy - this is for you. by @demiileeee

Huski’s first trip and my first return to work since birthing her ✈️ It felt so good to travel with my girl, to arrive up North and begin weaving our work through @eclectica.hub again. By some beautiful alignment, Josh was part of the facilitation team at @thegatheringofmen_au in QLD that same weekend, so we could fly up and back together, carrying our work into different circles.

With me in the later months of postpartum and Annie pregnant, I feel our work being rebirthed around the lives we are actually living. The mothers need to be held here too. The babies need to belong. Our bodies, with their needs and seasons, must have a say in how we gather.

Having Huski in the space felt effortless, my little superstar. She will always come first. And yet I want to build a life in which she can accompany me into the work I love. I want her to grow up with this imprint of the feminine. Women aged 27 to 55 speaking honestly about their bodies. Naming the bargains they've made for acceptance, the years spent inspecting themselves, the pleasure postponed until they became more smaller, smoother or more desirable.

These women were willing to look beneath the familiar stories, to meet the shame, envy, hunger for approval and fear of ageing that can take command of a life. To recognise how a voice absorbed from a distorted beauty culture can become an authority within us. How faithfully we can obey it, how fiercely we can defend it, without ever asking whose interests it serves.

This is where shadow work asks something of us, in our willingness to bear down and see our own participation within it. To recognise where we have become custodians of the very beliefs that diminish us.

To witness women reclaiming the pleasure of being in their bodies, inhabiting every curve, line, softness and texture, letting life move through places they had been taught to conceal, felt especially profound with my daughter there.

This is the women I want Huski to grow among, women who can tell the truth without turning it into another weapon against themselves. Women who take responsibility for what they carry, so their daughters have more room to live.

It’s @vondove 's birthday, and I felt compelled to share the story of how we found one another, and the friendship woven between us ever since. Swipe across to read our story 🤍

A friendship forged through art, spirit, wildness, grief, death, dancing, travel, unfurling, creativity, loss, rebirth, heartbreak and the incredibly beautiful privilege of witnessing one another through it all.

Plus a tiny handful of moments from the many lives we seem to have lived alongside each other!

I’ve wanted to share this story for such a long time, it feels fitting to do it today.

Happy birthday my Von. What a woman you are, a force to be reckoned with, a multidimensional colourful wise playful flame burning so bright, weaving the most potent legacy and mark on the world, leaving no stone untouched. What an honour to be here at the same time as you. Thank you for meeting me in so many different dimensions of friendship and opening more doors to just keep expanding and discovering more. I love you deeply! by @demiileeee
