FUNK ERA IS OUT. NOW. EVERYWHERE.

Thirty years ago we pressed 500 copies of this album on CD and then it just... disappeared. No digital release, no streaming, nothing. If you didn't buy it back then, you've never been able to hear it. Until today.

All 18 tracks are live right now, the original Limited Edition plus three tracks that only ever existed on a demo CD and have never been heard by anyone outside the band: Liza-Jane, Pretty One, and a solo acoustic demo of Shallow Waters that's being heard for the very first time ever, by anyone, today.

This is Just Jinger before Just Jinger. Tri Funk Era, then Funk Era, then us. Thirty years of history, all in one place, streaming for the first time.

Tell us which songs you want to hear in London and South Africa!

Out on all major platforms...

On episode 100 of the #Podcast, I’m joined by South African multi instrumentalist/producer and @JustJinjer bassist - @DenholmHarding.

Denholm began his musical career in Cape Town at the age of 5, when he appeared on a nationally televised talent show open to all ages called ‘Follow That Star’ where he made it through to the finals. By Grade 7, he joined popular kids program K-TV as the ‘K-TV Kids’ Band drummer and moved up to Jhb to pursue his musical career.

The band toured Southern Africa extensively for 3 years and appeared numerous times on multiple television shows.

Barely out of his teens he then joined South African Multi-Platinum super group ‘Just Jinjer’ shortly after the release of their critically acclaimed debut album.

Just Jinjer are considered one of the most successful Rock bands to ever come out of South Africa and have shared stages with artists like @U2, Counting Crows, Stevie Wonder, @maroon5 , Goo Goo Dolls, Def Leppard, @SpiceGirls and Live… Just to mention a few.

In taking the next step Denholm coupled his deep understanding of music + instruments with his spectacular ear and began producing albums for other artists and bands like @JesseClegg and @Prime_Circle. He has since been nominated multiple times for “Best Producer” and “Best Engineer” at the South Africa’s music awards (the SAMA’s) numerous times.

Hard to imagine it’s been 30 years already but it’s true. Where were you when you first heard those songs off that green album, ‘All Comes Round’?

Let us know in the comments which songs from that album and beyond you’d like to hear and we promise we’ll deliver them with all our hearts 💪

London already on sale. SA tour dates to be announced in the coming days.

It couldn’t be more fitting that @jesseclegg will join us on stage in the UK to mark the occasion 🙏

When @justjinjer moved back from the USA around 2009, I started the daunting task of entering music production. I held off on having my own recording/ creating/ production/ mixing space, due to me wanting to remain totally neutral and cater to whatever the artist/ project needed… and then find the right space for that, on a case by case basis.

After the passing of John Paul De Stefani, I started to entertain the thought of having a space that is mine and also totally creatively flexible.

I began to turn the top floor of my home into ‘that’ space and, while it is absolutely going to continuously improve, I am jumping into the deep end and “open for business”.

I look forward to shape shifting the various rooms and their functions, while creating incredible content and memories. 🙌

Swipe 👉 to see how it came together, thus far. by @denholmharding
