If you’re OUTRAGED about the Cornell story, and by the allegations that fraternity members saw disturbing messages in a group chat while this was allegedly happening and no one called for help...

HERE IS SOMETHING WE CAN ACTUALLY DO.

I created an issue on CallForAction.ai where, with just a few clicks, you can contact your members of Congress and make your voice heard.

We are asking Congress to create federal legislation that would amend existing campus safety laws and require college students who KNOW a sexual assault is actively happening, including through credible, real-time texts, group chats, photos or videos, to CALL FOR HELP when it is safe to do so.

Not physically intervene. Not put themselves in danger. Just CALL. FOR. HELP.

The legislation would also protect survivors and good-faith reporters, provide appropriate alcohol and drug amnesty, and make an exception when help has already been called.

If you know it’s happening, doing NOTHING shouldn’t be an option.

SO DO SOMETHING. It takes just a few clicks to be part of creating change.

Use code DENISE for 10 FREE calls.

I wish my story on @peoplemag would have been for something else, but since it's because now I'm a #FUTURECANCERSURVIVOR, I'm hoping you will share my story and hopefully my accidental self-detection will inspire you to check yourselves, and tell others...and to not ignore any changes in your bodies. I should also say I'm going to be fine (great actually!) I just have to go through the process! LINK IN PROFILE by @denisealbert

This is @oprah telling me, “You become a model for the rest of the world. You need to give yourself a round of applause for what you’ve already accomplished.” WOW. Again! I don’t know that I really heard that when we appeared on her special @ww series in May to share our story about living as a blended family during the pandemic. I’m sharing this again now because of @joinclubhouse and as another introduction to some of you who are new here! I lived with my ex, his wife, her ex and our kids when #NYC became the epicenter of #covid_19 ! #happybirthdayOprah and thank you for sharing our story. We lived together for 6 months before returning home in September. We sure hope our story helped, or inspires others going through or divorced to put the kids first. We are still going strong in our blendedness, though now from 3 separate homes and I continue to share. Believe me, this peacefulness is ultimately best for all! Especially the kids. Reach out on DM or clubhouse (denisealbert1) if you want to talk! LINK IN BIO to watch! by @denisealbert

Every day Jaylan is at Syracuse is a dream for him. And as his mom, watching him already make the most of every opportunity is a dream for me!

So proud that just weeks into his freshman year, he is already showing who he is, his passion for the sports industry and his drive to learn from the best.

Today, he was nominated to attend a special luncheon with members of the Falk Advisory Board where he had the incredible opportunity to network with leaders in the sports industry. And he was seated next to legendary sports agent David Falk, the namesake of Syracuse’s Falk College of Sport!

Even more special, he was able to spend time with Sandy Montag, who he has been fortunate to intern with for the past eight months.

So grateful to Dean Jeremy S. Jordan and April Mazza for recognizing Jaylan and giving him this opportunity.

Watching him pursue his dreams, build relationships and create his own path makes me so proud.

Keep dreaming big, Jaylan. You’re just getting started! 🧡🍊 taken in Falk College of Sport at Syracuse University by @denisealbert

Congratulations to the Levi family and Braun’s Law on this incredible milestone.

I never had the chance to meet Braun, but through the stories, the work, and the people who knew him, I feel like I’ve gotten to know his kindness and the kind of person he was.

What an incredible legacy to carry forward. Congratulations, Levi family. 🙏💚🐸

These pics from NBA All-Star in 2016 are the last pics with my boys smiling and with me before our lives changed forever because of my breast cancer journey.

Today begins my 11th October since diagnosis and I am a proud SURVIVOR.

This trip was so important to me. I had just had a lumpectomy and, especially as a single mom, I wanted and needed to prove to myself I could do it all. I could be a mom, be in treatment, continue to work and live life with my boys.

I was able to keep this trip between surgery and the beginning of a treacherous chemo, radiation and immunotherapy regimen. And I was able to give my boys this very cool experience as ball boys alongside some of their favorite NBA stars.

What followed was 2 1/2 years of treatment. So many side effects and emotions. Hair that never returned to normal. Side effects that continued for years.

And then, just years later, my boys had another 2-year cancer journey with their dad, who tragically lost his life.

I wish we didn’t have to go through so much along the way. And I certainly wish my boys didn’t have to experience cancer with both parents.

But it made me stronger and turned me into who I am today.

A survivor. An advocate.

Cancer changed our lives forever. And we are here for all of you.

That became my passion and my mission, My Cancer Family. And my son turned his own loss into purpose too, creating Teens Joining Forces After Loss, a virtual support group for teens who have lost someone they love.

I wish none of us had to know this world. But since we do, we will keep showing up for others who find themselves in it.

That is our Cancer Family. And we are here for you. by @denisealbert

Mom, FOR YOU!

For my mom’s birthday in August, I told her I would learn MAHJONG. Ironically, at the same time, one of my group chats suggested we learn.

A bunch of texts later, this random group began.

We have a few more committed, and as we are all working moms, and mostly new empty nesters, we will learn slowly. We’ll miss some weeks because of work (or because catching up, chatter, gossip, time together and wine somehow take over)…but we will get there.

We’re all excited about new things. Learning. New people. New friends. New connections. And figuring out this next chapter as working moms and empty nesters.

It may take us a little longer to learn MAHJONG, but definitely not for lack of brain power. Maybe just too much talking. 😂

Mom, I’m learning. 💕 by @denisealbert

My boys. My everything. 💙💙

I think back to my 30-something self who created a brand based on being your mom, and I’m so grateful I built a life and career that allowed me to have you both along for so much of it. Your entire childhood, I was able to take you everywhere, business trips, work events and sometimes even meetings, because anyone who was working with The MOMS and didn’t understand that...well, they wouldn’t have worked with us.

What a lucky mom. How grateful I am for both of you, for our trio and for all of our adventures together, adventures that continue now. I hope when you look back, you remember it all. And I hope you know how hard I worked to be able to do it all with you and for you.

You’ve had some incredible experiences because of mine and our family’s hard work, and I love that instead of taking any of it for granted, it’s made you both want to work hard, dream big and create incredible experiences of your own.

I wish my latest endeavor wasn’t needed, but I guess that’s what I know how to do best: create community, support, help and hopefully inspire others. There’s more to do with My Cancer Family, and you both, too, have helped and inspired so many along the way.

You are both so curious, inquisitive and hardworking. You each stand out in very different, but equally dynamic ways. I am so proud to be your mom.

Dad was, and would be, so incredibly proud of you both. To see how far you’ve come despite so much loss, so much hardship and so many difficulties you’ve been forced to deal with.

I am your biggest fan. You are my favorite travel partners and my favorite humans. You both bring so much creativity, light and inspiration to everyone who knows you.

Keep doing it.

We are unstoppable. We are unbreakable. And we are here to do our part to make this world just a little bit better. No matter what comes next, we will continue our adventures together. 💙💙

Liam Kowal was just 15 months old when he was killed by a drunk driver. This is Liam with his mom and dad. 💚

His parents turned an unimaginable loss into a mission to save lives - and I’m incredibly grateful to now be helping them with that mission.

On October 29 in LA, I’m producing and consulting on Point 05: The Movement Begins, benefiting Liam’s Life Foundation and supporting the movement to lower California’s legal BAC limit from .08 to .05.

I’m sharing Liam’s dad’s video in my Stories. Please watch it - hearing directly from him about Liam and why this work matters is incredibly powerful.

A few ways to help:
💚 Join us October 29
💚 Sponsor the event
💚 Donate an auction item - tickets, experiences, signed merchandise, meet & greets
💚 Take action - contact your representatives in just a few clicks. Link in my Stories and use code LIAMSLIFE for a free 10-pack of calls.

I thought I was done with genetic testing.

I had genetic testing back in 2015, after I was diagnosed with breast cancer at 41. I was negative and honestly thought - okay, I did that. Done.

Fast forward 10 years. At my annual checkup, my internist looked at my personal and family history and suggested I do updated genetic testing.

I had no idea how much had changed.

This time, I was tested for 71 genes, along with newer RNA technology.

And I just got my results…

All 71 were NEGATIVE. 💗

I am so happy and honestly, so relieved. Good news for me and for my boys - for now!

But it also made me think about how many of us had genetic testing 5, 10 or 15 years ago and haven’t thought about it since.

I certainly hadn’t.

Science changes. Testing changes. What doctors know changes.

It doesn’t mean the testing we had years ago was wrong. But it may mean there’s more that can be looked at today.

So if you had genetic testing years ago, maybe just ask the question at your next appointment: Should I be tested again?

I’m so glad my doctor asked me.

And today, I’m celebrating some really good news. 💗

71 genes. Negative. I’ll take it.

When your kid knows exactly what he needs, and says it, I make it happen. 💙

Tomorrow would be my boys’ dad Jordan’s 56th birthday, and Jaylan asked me to spend it with him. So, after a beautiful weekend with both boys home for the holiday, I drove Jaylan back to Syracuse.

What a bonus to break fast together and plan an evening with so many of his friends. So grateful to spend time with a few old friends and a lot of Jaylan’s new friends.

So proud of my boy. To take something so hard, a very difficult time for him, and turn it into a night where he surrounds himself with love. I am so proud of him for knowing what he needs - and saying it.

Missing Jaron, who flew back to NC, but so grateful for the time we all had together this weekend.

Every time my boys have hard days like this, I am reminded of how lucky I am. I’m 52 and still have both of my parents. My boys lost their dad way too young. Jordan lost his life way too young.

He would be so proud of his boys. Of how far they’ve come. And especially of how they continue to find their way through the really hard days. 💙 taken in Syracuse, New York by @denisealbert
