Introduction To Furniture Refinishing classes are now live! 🎨

If you live in the Okanagan and would like to learn IN PERSON how to refinish furniture so you can transform your own pieces, I can help! 🤗

In this introductory class, I’ll teach you all the basic steps required to paint your first piece (more advanced classes are also on the horizon 😉)

In this class, you’ll be introduced to ONE by Melange—it’s a superior quality, user friendly all-in-one artisan mineral paint designed especially for furniture refinishing! With ease, you’ll be able to paint your piece to a professional looking level!

This introductory class will discuss;
-the products, supplies, tools and equipment recommended for furniture refinishing
-details about Melange ONE paint and best practices for application
-steps required to properly clean and prep your piece for paint
-basic repair of surface level scratches and imperfections
-demonstration of brushing techniques and rolling techniques used
-if you choose to enrol in the upcoming advanced level classes, you’ll be able to learn how to stain, faux finishing techniques, drawer lining, application of wax and/or furniture balm, how to do more advanced level repairs, etc

The fee for this introductory level class is $85 and will include use of everything you need to complete the class (sanding pads, paint, brushes, etc). Special discounts will also be given on paints and brushes purchased by class participants.

What to bring with you;
-please bring a drawer or door from a piece of your own that you would like to refinish (or I can provide you with a practice board in class if you haven’t yet selected a piece to refinish)
-please wear comfortable cloths that you don’t mind getting dirty (or bring an apron or old shirt to wear over your clothes to protect them)

Space is limited to a maximum of 6 participants per class so please sign up early.

It’s just me, myself and I over here refinishing—I’d love to have someone do all the prep work for me LOL but at this point I’m the one and only 😆

I’m super excited for what’s in store this year! I’ve had plans rolling around in my head for quite some time about classes I’d like to offer and I FINALLY have a space—and a plan!—to be able to do so! So please stay tuned for that! There will be more information about those in the next few days! I hope you’ll take part in those and that you’ll have fun and find them to be helpful for your own DIY and refinishing journeys!

I have also been trying to build my inventory back up now that I’ve got space again so there will surely be lots of newly refinished pieces available for you throughout the year!

Whether you are new here or you’ve been here a while, THANK YOU—I truly appreciate your support! ♥️
Let me tell you a little bit more about the services I offer 😊
-I regularly pick up previously loved pieces then refinish them and list them for sale. You’ll find all my available pieces under my “for sale” highlights on Instagram but I also list them on FBMP and on my main Facebook and Instagram feeds. If you see a piece you like, please DM me for purchase details and to arrange a pick up time
-I also offer custom work! If you have a piece of your own that you’d like to have refinished, please send me a few photos of it as well as the length, depth and height (and inspiration photos if possible). I’ll then work out a free estimate for you and if you decide to proceed, we will set up a date to get started once a small deposit is made
-if you need a piece but don’t have your own or see anything suitable listed for sale, I can source a piece out for you! Just let me know what you’re looking for, provide me with approximate dimensions and I’ll start looking for you (or you can find a suitable piece yourself on FBMP, a thrift store, etc and drop it off for refinishing). Then we just continue as if it’s a custom job
-if you’re more into DIY, please stop by or visit my website. I have a full selection of @melangepaints and @zibrapainting brushes along with a huge variety of other painting essentials to get you started on your own project! And, if you’d like to try your hand at refinishing but you’re still not super confident in your skills, stay tuned bc I have lots of fun refinishing classes COMING SOON where I will work with you to show you how—you’ll be painting everything in your house in no time! 🤩

I am redoing a dresser and two bedside tables for my bedroom, and I will also be painting my bedroom walls and making a feature wall.
Three of the walls will be done in the light colour on the left and the feature wall will be done in the colour on the right.
I’m thinking of using Burlap for the furniture pieces (you can see it on the colour stick at the top)
I also considered using Heartwood or Sable but Burlap seems to coordinate best and work well in daytime light and in nighttime light (unfortunately my photo isn’t picking it up perfectly)

Do you ever have an “are you kidding me!?” moment when it comes to the coverage of the paint you’re using?! 🤯
I’m thankful that I get to be in awe ALL THE TIME with @melangepaints — and here’s some visual proof as to why! Look at this coverage! You can barely even see the wood showing through it and this is just the first coat! 🤩
