Listen ad free at www.ofkelowna.com Karin’s path to @designsbykarin began long before she ever considered furniture refinishing a career. Growing up in Oshawa, she was always creating, whether she was crafting, baking with her grandmother or refinishing her first cedar chest by hand. Her professional life took her into pharmacy, hospital work and eventually a seventeen year career teaching pharmacy technicians. After moving to the Okanagan and working with Interior Health, Karin stepped away from her career to care for her parents and needed to find something she could build from home. What began with a $25 nightstand grew into a thriving custom furniture refinishing business, a community of fellow creators and a return to the creative side that had always been part of her. Karin shares the care, patience and persistence behind transforming both furniture and an unexpected new chapter of life. #ofkelownapodcast

SOLD✨Peppler Mahogany End Tables / Nightstands A beautiful pair of vintage Peppler mahogany end tables, thoughtfully transformed from an original vanity into two incredibly versatile bedside tables. Rather than losing the character of the original piece, the vanity was carefully separated to create a matching pair of tall, narrow nightstands — perfect for bedrooms where floor space is limited but storage is still important. The mahogany tops and drawer fronts were completely stripped and sanded, then refinished with Saman stain in Whole Wheat, bringing out the warmth and beautiful natural grain of the wood. The surrounding frames and beautifully turned legs were painted in Mélange MORPHOSE in Understory, a deep, sophisticated earthy tone that gives the pair a rich modern-organic feel. The original vintage hardware has been retained, including the decorative brass drop pulls and distinctive hardware on the fluted upper drawers — a detail I especially love on these. Each table offers three functional drawers, generous storage for their compact footprint, beautiful turned legs and stretcher detailing. Dimensions — each: 14.5” W × 18” D × 30.5” H Features: * Authentic vintage Peppler furniture * Mahogany construction * Converted from an original vanity into a matching pair * Tops & drawer fronts stripped and sanded to expose the natural wood * Stained in Saman Whole Wheat * Body refinished in Mélange MORPHOSE Understory * Original vintage hardware * Three drawers per table * Beautiful turned legs and original stretcher detail * Sold as a pair These would be gorgeous as bedside tables, end tables or accent tables, particularly in a modern organic, transitional or collected vintage interior. Please Note: * Pickup in Durham. * Delivery available for an additional fee. * Items remain available until a 30% deposit is received. * A 50% deposit is required for delivered purchases to reserve both the piece and your delivery date, with the balance due upon delivery. * As with all vintage furniture, minor imperfections are part of its unique character and charm. One of the most beautiful features of this piece is its bow-front silhouette, with gracefully curved drawer fronts that give the dresser dimension and an elegant furniture-maker quality. We couldn’t help ourselves… This sweet vintage desk, painted in Fieldnotes by Karin of @designsbykarin deserved a setting as charming as the finish itself. So we imagined it in the study of a naturalist historian—where every drawer holds field journals, pressed botanicals, and a few beautiful mysteries. 📚🦋🌿
