Orbiting a rockslide. Admitting that scanning the landscape in this way has colonial vibes. I disappear in the end.

HUMAN/NATURE is curated and produced by German artist Lu Mazen, whose practice across photography, video and sound explores identity, place, memory and the environments people construct around themselves. Her recent photo book Garden Escapes develops this exploration further, approaching gardens as both real environments and psychological refuges.
With HUMAN/NATURE, these questions expand from individual artistic practice into an international conversation.

Greenland Landsat Timelapse Plus Speculative Core Sample

A functional e-waste Macintosh computer sits atop a cylindrical base made of plaster, concrete, and foam. The computer displays a custom software artwork on the black and white screen, plotting satellite images of Helheim Glacier, Greenland, and text excerpts from the 1990 IPCC Assessment Report. The artwork shows all images taken by Landsat 8-9 in 2022, the year of the highest recorded glacial retreat at Helheim to date. The text selected from the IPCC 1990 Assessment is on the cryosphere and predicts exactly such ice mass loss events if global CO2 emissions continue in a “business-as-usual” scenario.

Materials: Plaster, concrete, foam, sand, e-waste Apple Macintosh Plus computer, and custom software.
Dimensions: 12” x 10” x 32”

Buyer receives, computer, mouse, power cord and pedestal exactly as pictured. The computer has been modified to boot from a flash card. The artwork is preloaded and plays automatically at system startup.

Konstantina Mavridou is a thoughtful artist whose work considers the ontology of time and space. For this work, she has taken excerpts of a procedural sound installation and embedded them within unique QR codes printed on Greek marble.

https://ebay.io/m/VBkXtw

Title: MARBLE PIXEL
Description: Five planets from Ptolemy's Almagest (2nd century CE) run simultaneously across a one-hour loop. Each marble corresponds to a unique 72-second slice — one moment when the five frequencies align in a configuration that never repeats. Scan the QR code on your marble to hear your moment and see its planetary diagram.

50 pieces of Greek white marble. 5 × 5 × 1 cm.
Each holds one moment from the NORMALITY ENGINE soundscape.

This listing is for edition 1 of 50. by @devharlan

Zsolt Mesterhazy is a veteran technology artist organizing netart collaborations such as browserbased.org and the Near-Field Communication Digital Art Biennale in Amsterdam, where artists embed their work in open-source QR codes. For his work on eBay, he will sneeze on a piece of his cardigan for you.

https://ebay.io/m/H4FAkf

Title: Achoo!
Description: The Basic inner-elbow patch is a unique knitted item cut out of the left sleeve of the creator’s cardigan. A site chosen in compliance with recommendations to catch the unavoidable discharge of bodily fluids that accompany the response. Incrusted by sneezes, it supports a delicate mist-like pattern that covers the fluff and knots. The dimensions of this item are 21 cm x 18 cm x 21 cm x 18.5 cm and it is made of black synthetic yarn.

The weave of 0s and 1s that make up the image, similarly to the actual loops of in the yarn that create a pattern, carry messages both discernible and indiscernible to the naked eye and not. Think of human readable language, encoding of the visual (still image, resolution, non-adult content, ktnitting pattern, etc) as well as mist-like pattern traces adjusted to the context of eBay with a dose of art historical references. The object comes with a signed certificate of origin and will be mailed to the buyer’s address in airtight packaging. by @devharlan

I have had the pleasure of showing with Chris Coleman @digitalcoleman before, and I am always impressed by his thoughtful, meticulous work. Here he creates a speculative printed calendar with images generated on a homespun AI model trained on extant paintings from one of his early 20th-century ancestors. See the entire set here:

https://ebay.io/m/1IDGtF

Title: Genereal Electric 1938 Calendar
Description:
H.M. Mott-Smith was a physicist for General Electric who helped shape the early trajectory of the American industrial century. His son, also named H.M. Mott-Smith, visualized that same progress as a painter producing promotional illustrations for the company. Learning that this painter was my great-great-grand uncle, and recognizing our shared identity as creators, sparked a quiet obsession. I began scouring eBay to reclaim these artifacts, exclusively acquiring vintage calendars that featured his specific illustrations. Over the last 4 years I have been buying whole calendars alongside severed, cut-out images saved by forgotten admirers.

I have digitized the collected brushstrokes as a deeply personal dataset. I trained a custom LoRA on his illustrations using the Qwen open-weight AI model, running the computations on my home computer. The resulting work is a calendar that uses H.M. Mott-Smith's original aesthetic to imagine an alternate trajectory for early 20th-century America. Through these synthesized images, the project suggests a different path for corporate titans like GE, one rooted in sustainability and ecological harmony rather than unchecked extraction.

Conceptually, this work is less an act of historical revisionism and more an exercise in hope. It is a way of looking backward with fondness, choosing to extract and preserve the best in our individual ancestors even as we acknowledge and critique the broader problems of their eras. By offering this piece for sale on eBay, I am reinserting our family art back into the exact same ecosystem where I first found it.

Item Details:
The item for sale is a physical copy of the new calendar. It consists of 12 pages and is printed in full color at approximately 11" x 20". by @devharlan

Yifei He @yifeihe_ is a narrative filmmaker between Beijing and Toronto. She studied film at NYU and just completed a residency at the Vermont Studio Center. I appreciate her rich cinematic style, which translates well as a series of still images in this nonlinear deck of cards:

https://ebay.io/m/Vgjdwu

Title: Deck of Time: A Farewell/Closer
Description: Deck of Time transforms a thirteen-minute narrative film (A Farewell or Closer) into a physical deck of images and durations. Each card represents a shot or temporal fragment from the film, carrying a still image, its timecode and duration, and a trace of dialogue or sound.
Arranged in sequence, the cards preserve the film’s original rhythm and structure. Shuffled, they allow the buyer to re-edit its memories, encounters, and omissions into new temporal arrangements. A final screening card provides private access to the original film, returning the fragmented physical archive to the sequence established by the filmmaker. by @devharlan

A classical marble next to a used blender: @devharlan has organized a 16-artist digital art exhibition on eBay, where every work must become a shippable thing: an SD card, a bottled USB stick, a hacked listing, a sneezed-on cardigan.

On why digital art was never weightless, in conversation with @louisjebb . Bidding runs until October 9.
