Happy 34th birthday to @djentlethaller 🖤 this picture accurately represents how overwhelmingly happy I am to be around Brian and excited when someone reminds me we’re together in the wild. (thank you @mcdonald.photo.pgh for capturing it during tekko!)

Since he apparently decided his 33rd year needed to include every possible side quest ever, here is just some of what he accomplished off the top of my head:

— Earned URM Silver
— Released an @adtr cover
— Won an official @metallica cover contest with the amazingly talented @luckybetband (like what?!)
— Mixed more music with Lucky Bet that is going to be siiiiiiick
— Released like over 9,000 anime covers and a whole EP with @shadowrealmmusic with a bunch more to come 🖤 (love you guys)
— Mixed @placeblamepgh’s new EP (it’s so good too, theyre so talented)
— Worked on a whole ass @dethlehem album that sounds gnarly as hell and is going to blow minds when it comes out (get excited)
— Played bass for approximately two days
— Had his busiest mixing year ever
— Interviewed Nolly of GGD/Periphery, which is like me sitting down with Lars to chat
— Worked with Chris from TGI and guest listed the show (insane)
— Helped bring in multiple $20 million grants at his actual job somehow? Because he has an actual day job that he also crushes.
— Served as a cat bed for at least 500 hours or more
— Watched all of Sailor Moon Crystal
— Watched all of Attack on Titan (RIP)
— Bought his first starter cosplay, which was of course Darth Vader
— Met Hayden Christensen, literally vader himself
— Got to see Marc-André Fleury play with the Pens again 🖤
— Survived one full year of Kpop Demon Hunters
— bonus: lost in connect four basketball to me at Dave and Buster’s (see last slide)

And that is absolutely still leaving things out and I can’t even count them all.

You have done so much this year, made so much incredible music, worked with so many talented people, and continued to somehow be excellent at every random thing you decide to do.

I am so proud of you, and I love getting to watch you keep becoming an even cooler, weirder, more talented version of yourself every year.

When this band first started, we asked Luke if he wanted to join us to sing a song with us as a guest—one night only.

He said yes, but only on one condition. That condition was that he sings Escape From the City from Sonic Adventure 2.

Today that legendary cover arrives on streaming platforms everywhere you stream music.

So, instead of waiting a few weeks for the EP, what if we just dropped a new cover right now?

Dragon Ball Super’s “Chozetsu Dynamic!” is streaming everywhere RIGHT now featuring our lead vocalist, @l2cmusic.

It’s wild to have so much history but not have a song released yet featuring Luke considering how integral of a piece to all of this he really is. After the debut Hard Rock show, when Luke officially joined the band, he showed up with three things…

Sunglasses, a windbreaker, and a larger than life attitude that outpoured confidence and ego all in one. When we started picking songs for our singers, picking a Dragon Ball tune for Luke was the easiest choice we could make. Which one was the hard part.

We landed on Super’s “Chozetsu Dynamic!” not only because we felt it was the series strongest and most straight forward rock tune, but because both its energy and Luke’s channeled each other. It’s rich in nostalgia, grounded in perseverance, and edged with a dedication to be the greatest, and Luke took the song over as if it was his own.

Releasing this as his first song only made sense, but we’ve gotta dedicate this one to @djentlethaller who put together the track as you hear it now, and his equally talented wife, @ktlynnmrie who brought our mascot, Tsuki, to the world of Akira Toriyama and created this incredible single art.

These two have been our number one supporters, and as Dragon Ball fans we feel both honored and incredibly luckily that they invested their talents into making this cover truly special.

“The Other Side of the Sea” launches May 15th. Singles Chozetsu Dynamic, Smile Bomb, and Hero Too are available now everywhere you listen to music!

🌊 THE OTHER SIDE OF THE SEA 🌊

We are incredibly excited to announce that our debut EP release is on the horizon.

“The Other Side of the Sea” is a love letter to the anime songs that crossed the Pacific, consisting of eight English adaptations & OSTs that introduced entire generations to their favorite series. These are the songs that aired on Western television, soundtracked Saturday mornings, and helped anime find its footing on this side of the ocean.

Spanning decades of iconic series, this EP brings these songs together for a journey back to our youth to remind us where our stories began. Available everywhere on May 15th, the tracklist includes:

It's been a little over 10 years since I decided I wanted to learn how to mix music professionally and coming up on 4 years that I've had the time and space to properly do it (for which my amazing wife, @ktlynnmrie, deserves endless gratitude). While at times it's been a difficult and frustrating journey, I am beyond grateful for all of the support and trust I've had from my family, friends, and my clients who've entrusted me with leveling up their sound. There are way too many people to thank, but a few people definitely deserve some special recognition:
- @ktlynnmrie for providing our amazing home that has allowed me to build a studio I never could have dreamed of having even just a few years ago. I am far from the best at making sure that the time I devote to mixing doesn't tread on our shared free time, and while I really need to improve at that her support has never wavered.
- @nollyggd for the endless amounts of knowledge I've gleaned from him over the years and inspiring me to do this in the first place.
- @urmacademy for being such an incredible resource and community for learning this craft.
- @francescofiligoi for helping me level up my guitar tone game to levels I never previously thought possible.
- all of my clients, but especially @shadowrealmmusic and @dethlehem for the enormous amount of trust they've put in me to deliver the sounds they've always been chasing.

It was nearly 5 years ago, just a few blocks from where I took this photo of her, that I met @ktlynnmrie for the first time outside of PNC Park on a freezing cold night in the midst of a pandemic. If you'd told me that less than 5 years later we'd be married and living with her 3 cats in a beautiful and comfortable home in one of Pittsburgh's best neighborhoods, I don't know that I would've believed you, but I would've hoped for it even from that very first night.

I'm not an easy person to deal with, at least not on a day-to-day basis. I'm stubborn, impatient, can be lazy, and my mental health struggles are definitely a challenge, especially lately. And yet she wakes up every morning and loves me all the same. She is an incredible manager at her job, talented at almost anything she cares to try her hand at (as long as it's not sports lol), unbelievably kind and helpful, and the best damn cat mom and wife this world could have ever produced. Our life hasn't always been easy: we've faced more than our fair share of misfortune, often having nobody to rely on but ourselves. Yet each time, we've gotten ourselves through it and been stronger for it.

So happy (almost) anniversary to my wife: yeah, I'm early, but I don't think she gets nearly the amount of credit she deserves for how amazing she is, particularly considering all that she's been through in this life. She is the rock and soul of our family, the best life partner I could've ever dreamed of, and the most incredible person I think I'll ever have the privilege of meeting. I wish the whole world could see her how I do, and I love her more than anything. by @djentlethaller
