Thought we'd go for something more vibey for the selection on the mix-off this week, coming in the form of the undisputed classic Take Me Away by the mighty @chaseandstatus! It's pretty much a 50/50 split of who went for the blend on the first vs the second drop; the versatility of how this tune can be mixed is part of its magic to us ✨

Which mix got you grooving?

1. 369 @369_dnb: High Contrast - If We Ever (Unglued remix) @highcontrastuk @unglueddnb
2. Merlin @dj_merlin00: Sigma - Paint It Black @sigma
3. Ed Culprit @ed_culprit: Breakage - Tape Bubbler Spesh @jamesbreakage
4. Variation @samvariation: Artificial Intelligence- Desperado @artificialintelligencednb
5. Scavenger @djscavenger: Anthony Kasper - Departure (Technimatic remix) @kasperthedj @technimatic
6. Danwell @danwellphoto: Beta 2 - The Rolls @beta2dnb
7. Bisect @bisect_dnb: Technimatic - Night Vision @technimatic by @djscavenger

Artist spotlight 🔦
CHIMPO @chimpomcr

From Manchester to global stages, Chimpo is the UK’s music legacy personified. His DJ sets take in all the genres created within the UK and all of the influences that inform them. Recently specialising in authentic old skool jungle, he infuses his other musical loves into his productions and sets, taking sounds, voices and rhythms from grime, dubstep, dancehall, hip hop and soul and stirring them into the pot ♨️

A musical triple threat, Chimpo brings production, DJing and vocals to the game and has truly earned legendary status amongst the scene. With two albums under his belt, countless bangers as solo productions as well as collabs and vocal features on some of dnbs biggest anthems of recent times and more dubplates than you can shake a usb stick at.. if you don’t know about Chimpo you’ve been living under a rock!

Always ready to take things in an unexpected direction, Chimpo’s imprint on the scene is hard to miss, from high grade live streams on the likes of boiler room and keep hush to popping up at dances all over the world in all kinds of disguises like the final photo in this post from the Liquid Funktion personal archives taken somewhere in Pula around 2013 📸 couldn’t resist getting that one in here ;)

For a 2hr set in Edinburgh this Friday he’s joined by fellow Mancunian wave machine @mcrchunky for what is sure to be a special night of dnb, jungle and breaks in the intimate @mashhouse venue in the heart of the Scottish capital 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿

Last time Chimpo came up here he caused an absolute ruckus alongside @fox_shiddleywoi for a sold out sweat box show and we hope this Friday will be no different 💦

Support on the night from @liquidfunktiondnb residents BC and Scavenger warming things up with the usual cruisers, bruisers and groovers 👌

Tickets are on the move via RA. Link in bio

🌊 Guest Announcement #1 🌊

🎤CHUNKY - Hailing from the musical metropolis that is Manchester, @mcrchunky continues to be one of the hardest working MC/DJ/Producers in the game.

Chunky is a proud Mancunian with roots in Zimbabwe (having relocated from there as a child), helping explain his worldly, open-minded, outlook on life. Onstage, this translates into a rare ability to work any crowd into a frenzy, whilst handling everything from the latest, bass-heavy cuts to live jazz with consummate ease.

Chunky’s voice has been the sound of the UK underground for more than a decade. As an MC, he’s a magnetic presence with an immaculate pen game. His catchy turns of phrase made him a standout fixture at @swamp81, @hessleaudio, @hoya_hoya and Hit & Run parties, forming a symbiotic partnership with affiliates such as Loefah, Zed Bias, Dub Phizix, Biome, @chimpomcr, Pearson Sound and Jonny Dub. As rapper and producer, he’s a multi-headed hydra chomping into hip hop and grime with the same ease as drum ‘n’ bass and leftfield techno.

Recent releases such as ‘My Corner’ alongside long-time collaborator Chimpo, and standout tunes ‘Meh’ and ‘GNG’ from his latest album ‘Somebody’s Child’, alongside our own experiences in the crowd during his unmistakable sound and energy at @outlookfestival, made him a long-time hero for getting onto a @liquidfunktiondnb lineup - and we’ve finally made it happen! We can’t wait to see what he brings to the intimate space that is @mashhouse this Friday! Now’s the time to get stuck in!!⚡️⚡️ taken in Edinburgh, United Kingdom by @djscavenger
