Grief is the price we pay for love. I brought Kingston home October 8, 2014. Since that day, I’ve slept alone….maybe twice. Life grant me the privilege of raising the most perfect dog. He brought more happiness to the people around me than I ever could. What happened to him was sudden, there was no prolonged suffering; Kingy was here and then he was just gone. There is so much I could say but nothing, absolutely nothing comes close to describing the feeling of emptiness and loss left behind. And I am lost without him. If you met Kingston, remember him for his smile and the immediate sneeze that would follow. And if you never met him, so sorry, but he’d have sneezed right on you. by @dmikituk
Not a bad weekend in paradise🏝️☀️ Left everything out there this past weekend at the If3 Masters World Championships in Aruba and came home with 🥈. Competing against the world’s best with this backdrop was an unforgettable experience⚓️ It is incredibly hard to win in a sport as complex and challenging as CrossFit. There are days when believing in yourself feels like the hardest part of the test. This weekend, I blocked out the noise, trusted my fitness, and let my training show. The battle was fierce, the energy was unreal, and the podium finish feels amazing. I’m incredibly proud of what I achieved. So grateful for the circle around me. Huge shoutout to everyone who cheered me on this weekend! A MASSIVE thank you to my coach and training partners for the endless support along this journey. Extra love to @coach.kat.elvidge for being by my side in person while competing yourself this weekend—you’re a truly great person and you did an incredible job! Lastly, I want to extend a huge thank you to all of the volunteers and staff. This weekend went off without a hitch because of your incredible teamwork and flawless execution! @coach.scottyg @optimum_performance_training @canadian_functional_fitness @f3aruba_ by @dmikituk

How does the saying go? “Sometimes maybe good, sometimes maybe… not.”? It’s something like that ;) Training is a mix of good days and not-so-good days. Sometimes there are obvious reasons for it. Sometimes there aren’t. And trying to rationalize why a particular day isn’t going well can drive you nuts. The reality is that it’s part of the process. You stack good days on good days, but the not-so-good days are part of that process too. They can teach you a lot—if you allow them to. Sometimes we’re too quick to dismiss a bad session by rationalizing it as poor sleep, stress, nutrition, fatigue, or something else. And while those things can absolutely affect performance, constantly searching for an explanation can take away from the lesson the session itself has to offer. Now, if the not-so-good days start turning into bad days, and those bad days start stacking on top of one another consistently, then investigate it. There’s probably a reason for that, and you need to address it and make some changes. But if the occasional not-so-good day doesn’t become a trend or turn into a stretch of consistently poor training, don’t worry about it. It’s part of the process. Not every session needs an explanation. Sometimes there is no rhyme or reason. Sometimes you just have a bad day. Embrace it. Learn from it. Move on to the next day. by @dmikituk

•How’d you know you could do that? I never thought I couldn’t• My first in-person Semi-final!! Tenth place overall and couldn’t be more proud. Thank you to all my friends at @optimum_performance_training for constantly supporting me! Thank you to my coach @coach.scottyg for everything from mental preparedness to injury prevention to event planning; you’re an absolute gem, brother. Lastly, this was all about having unwavering faith in that I belonged on that competition floor. What I wrote at the start was my head space that weekend. Along with “there’s no crying in baseball.” Take that for what it’s worth ❤️‍🔥 @magiccity.games - GO OFF 😮‍💨 YALL CRUSHED IT THANK YOU by @dmikituk

I couldnt figure out what to say then but I’m going to try now. It’s hard to find the words when someone had such an impact on your life, and for me, Jason did. Jason was a force, and he had a profound impact on everyone he ever met. But it would seem that the best ones go too soon and without warning. I hope that wherever you are, you know that you are loved and you made an impact on the world. I hope you can see all of us succeeding and smile because you were apart of our journeys. I hope my loving boy ran straight up to you with a tennis ball… and you knew immediately that he was yours to have from then on. I miss you Jason, enjoy the Kingston walks from now on. by @dmikituk
