Rehab can get boring at times. @jlin7 will tell you that.

At @eastasiasuperleague Macau, working through a lower body injury in his final year, he talked about what it forced him to level up.

That’s just the truth of the process.

But the boring stuff isn’t just for when you’re hurt. It’s what keeps you from getting hurt again.

Discipline earns you the freedom to still do what you love.

Who else can relate!? 🙋🏾‍♂️

Getting to be part of #JLinNextGenCamp again meant teaming up alongside a lot of genuinely talented people who poured everything into this weekend.

An ops team keeping ten things running at once without missing a beat.
A skills team training on the court alongside the athletes all weekend.
Media and Content teams chasing every angle and soundbite (and occasionally each other for the best shot).
And our PM team, bringing the same standard we bring every day.

We had a blast being in the room with you all.

If warm-ups feel confusing or random, we made this for you 🏀

A lot of hoopers deal with tight hips, stiff backs, or that “locked up” feeling before or after playing — but most warm-ups don’t actually open up your joints to help you move efficiently.

This movement prep gives you:
• a simple flow you can follow
• exercises that actually translate to the court
• positions + postures that improve mobility long term
• a warm-up that helps you feel ready, not just stretched

These are the same principles we use when preparing athletes like Jeremy Lin, Sumayah Sugapong, and Simon Enciso — just adapted so you can do it at home, the gym, or before runs at 24.

We’re trying to help you move smarter, stay healthy, and keep your game sharp over the long run — not just today.

Stiff Mid or Lower Back? You probably are hitting some good drills, but maybe missing some of the nuances.

This is a contralateral crawl. The opposite arm and leg work together, which is the same pattern your body uses every time you walk or run.

Most mid-back mobility drills focus only on twisting. What gets missed is keeping the spine long while you rotate.

When your spine stays tall and supported, you get:

✅ More freedom for each segment of your spine to move
✅ Less pressure and pinching through your back
✅ Your spine’s natural curves protected
✅ Less tension in the surrounding muscles
✅ Better body awareness and control

The bottom line: less strain, mitigate risk of injury bc quality of motion is preserved, and movement that feels easier.

This drill trains mid-back rotation, core control, and shoulder blade stability all at once. That’s why it’s one of our favorites for anyone dealing with a stiff mid back or lower back. taken in Redwood City, California by @dr.joeysalgado

Part 2: Let’s break down the hinge…this time, straight to you 🎯

If you watched the last video, you saw us coach an athlete through it. This one’s for you to follow along.

The hinge isn’t just a deadlift pattern, it’s one of the best tools for improving your ability to to access hip internal rotation, thereby improving hip mobility which gives you more usable space in your body to actually strengthen those hips.

Here’s why: hinging well teaches you to shift your center of mass back and lengthen the glute on each side you’re working. Do that consistently, then add load into the pattern.

In this video, I’ll walk you through how to actually get into your hips and glutes…the cues, the positioning, the common mistakes. taken in Redwood City, California by @dr.joeysalgado

Back pain or stiffness after deadlifts?

Not all hinges are created equal. The hinge is one of the most important movement patterns anyone can learn and most people are missing the details that make it safe and powerful.

In athletes with back stiffness or pain, we consistently see the same three breakdowns:

→ Limited hip internal rotation
→ Difficulty “stacking” the rib cage over the pelvis
→ Trouble turning the pelvis over the loaded leg

In this breakdown, watch how we coach our athlete through it step by step:

1️⃣ Load the front leg
The back leg is just a kickstand for balance…about 90% of the work happens through the front leg.

2️⃣ Turn the belt buckle toward the working leg
This increases load on that leg and lengthens the glute…the same length most people are chasing with a pigeon stretch.

Except here, he’s loading that length, which builds real hip internal rotation and the ability to shift his center of mass over the leg.

The hip wants to externally rotate — watch for the knee drifting toward the pinky toe, so keep big toe rooted into ground

3️⃣ Hinge over the foot
As load stays over the leg, he hinges to fully lengthen and load the glute.

4️⃣ Hold the bottom position
Knee stays tracking over the 2nd/3rd toe to keep the adductors engaged.

5️⃣ Stand up through the midfoot
The left hand teaches the hip to drive forward in space — that’s how you find full hip extension on the way up.

This is what separates a hinge that builds you up from one that wears you down.

Train hip extension. Offload the stiff, achy lower back.

Everyone wants to train heavy, move fast, perform at the top level. People struggle with the boring, consistent work that actually gets you there.

Joint mobility and movement quality are the first things skipped because they take patience, not intensity.

This video shows how to use the 45° back extension machine correctly: for hip extension, not back extension.

We see this constantly with athletes who’ve learned to tolerate a stiff back…until lost hip extension shows up somewhere else: less push off the foot, or the inability to finish the top of squat or deadlift.

Try the drill. Tag a friend who lives with a bad back. 🎯 taken in Redwood City, California by @dr.joeysalgado

For those that know me, know that I can be intense and live with a lot of passion.

For a long time my well-being lived and died with results. As a player. As an entrepreneur. Chasing validation without even realizing it… putting chips on my shoulder on purpose, thinking that’s what motivation was supposed to feel like.

But the goalposts never stop moving. My north star in this life has been pursuing joy.

Basketball taught me the joy is in the process. It taught me you can’t hide from the work. It taught me humility. It taught me brotherhood. But nothing comes close to the flow you feel on the court, just having fun.

Now, as a new father, I feel that lesson more than ever. I don’t want Sevy to see a dad who only shows up when things go well. I want her to see someone who found joy in the doing.

Still learning. Grateful for the fellas for letting me play and giving me an evening of joy back in Washington
