Some concerts remind you why you fell in love with concerts.

@museband brought the spectacle. @portugaltheman brought the chaos. @thetempertrap brought the energy.

And I got to experience it all with Brandon, a friend I’ve been going to shows with since OzzFest in 1999.

27 years. Dozens of shows. Still chasing that feeling.

We went to @cascadesamp.I have thoughts.

We got to spend a week at Cassandra’s aunt & uncle’s cabin in Maine. Added two states to the places we have been (tiniest chunk of New Hampshire), worked a little bit, swam in the lake off the dock, went kayaking, rode ATVs, swam off the back of the boat, saw uncle Paul launch a bajillion fireworks, had fire pit conversations, saw a beaver, saw a tank, and heard a bunch of birds we have never heard before. What a great trip. Tomorrow we set off on our drive back to CT before flying back home. Next trip in T-minus 10 days! taken in Caribou Pond by @dr_emperor

Happy birthday, @katieleyhane! From tiny nugget to MBA graduate to BEING FREAKING MOM, I am so proud of my sister. It’s tough to be so far away, but I am glad we have been able to share so many life events together and I can’t wait to see you and your newest addition to the family soon! by @dr_emperor

“This weekend, we are celebrating mom.” - Oliver

And that we did. We spent a weekend getting coffee, hanging out, dance party-ing, and laughing. @cassandrayost is one of the most rad people I know and Oliver couldn’t have a better mama.

Whenever people say how kind Oliver is, how smart he is, how sweet he is, or how funny he is, I think about how much of that comes from Cal’s unending love for him and her exceptionally supportive nature. From his crazy knowledge of marine biology to his never ending collection of “treasures” (sticks, rocks, pinecones, shells, etc), to almost crying when he hears a song that is “just too beautiful,” to his sense of social justice (like when he told his own soccer teammate not to get the ball because he was passing it to the kid who hadn’t really had a chance with the ball), Cal’s love for him and drive to give him the world is at play.

Took a quick trip to Tacoma last weekend to hit up the @ptdefiancezoo and had a blast. Saw my first guitarfish, saw a musk ox look like a puppy, my first red wolves, a walrus made a bunch of fart sounds, and several rad views of Mt. Rainier. Grabbed some fish tacos and hit Owen Beach. Earlier this week we said goodbye to Turbo. For the past 15 years he’s been our constant companion as we roadtripped to campsites and beaches all over the west coast. He outlasted his three four-legged siblings to be the last pet standing, sucking up all the scritches from a family that loved him. He slept, he snorted, he borked, and he cuddled until he just couldn’t anymore. Goodbye, Turbo. by @dr_emperor
