“Some of these songs took a long time to assemble, but ‘Hate It’ was probably one of the quickest,” Nate remarks, “and it’s the one that I think has come to matter the most to me. It’s impossible to see children in peril, on the news - anywhere - and not immediately think of my own child. The guitar part Saph came up with during recording really changed the whole mood of the track for the better. I almost didn’t recognize it, but it meant more, somehow.”

We’re Second Homes, and our debut album, Find A Way To Hate It, releases in full today. We’re so grateful for your support, interest, and encouragement, and we really hope you enjoy the rest of the tracks, which are available now on our bandcamp. Second Homes is @draussenistfeindlich and @sapheen.istan. The album was produced by @boec_kner and recorded independently at @brighton_road_recording_studio with the assistance of the wonderful Jake Skinner. “Bite the Counters was one of the first songs we worked on together, but we almost didn’t record it,” Sapheen recalls. “We were running out of time in the studio and decided it would be better to prioritise finishing the other tracks over starting a new one. Once we got home, Nate decided to bring it back to life and recorded a bed track with the drums and synth sounds. It sounded amazing. I layered some guitars onto it in my living room and all we had to do was return to Jake’s studio to mix and record vocals. I’m really proud of it. It started out as a boring guitar song and ended up somewhere between The Knife and Electronic. Now it’s one of my favourites.”

Slowly becoming accustomed to living in Switzerland and having a 2-year-old somehow. She's completely bilingual but takes great pride in telling me what to do in French. Beautiful sunset after an absurdly wet day in Geneva, where I now live. Also featuring in this series of photos: the smallest elevator I have ever seen (somehow I manage to fit a stroller in there every day) and me holding the best early birthday present I ever got. Early proof of life statement this year in a slightly different format: Cynthia and I are overjoyed to announce the birth of our daughter Naomi, born on September 5 here in London. Mom and baby are both doing well, we're all three at home, and we couldn't be happier. by @draussenistfeindlich

Cyn had to go to Geneva for 2 weeks for work and I decided to come down with her and take some actual time off.
