Caught a flight with my favorite travel partner this weekend to witness my cousin’s wedding. It was a beautiful ceremony. Plus it’s always good to see my family too! Congratulations Josh and Loren!

Bonus: my son was in Mobile, AL playing against Jackson State for the Gulf Coast Classic (he’s in marching band at Alabama A&M) so we got to drive over and see him too! taken in Pensacola, Florida by @drdmgeorge

Today marks 20 years of being in this noble Klan. I remember trasferring to APSU from UTC Fall 2004; @thetabeta_nupes had just returned in Spring 04. I had to wait my turn (many are called…). But when it was my time everything fell in place! Shout out to my LBs and those who paved the way for us; I express much gratitude and appreciation. My experience in Kappa has been great but this year has been extremely special. I was appointed advisor of my chapter and was able to witness my son (1-ΘΒ-25) cross my chapter this spring. I also had the privilege of welcoming 9 new members to the bond this Fall while celebrating the chapter’s 50th Anniversary! Thank you Theta Beta…you made us hard…you made us klever…👌🏽♦️👌🏽 Lastly…Rest easy Brother Chris Haynes…until we reach that Golden Shore and meet again 🙏🏽 by @drdmgeorge

I wrapped up my first @nashvillepef Public Schools Hall of Fame as President & CEO! It was an amazing event with 700+ guests in attendance. Special thanks to Dr. Battle, Mayor O’Connell, our Event Chairs (Dr. Candice Story Lee and Brandon Corbin), all of our sponsors, honorees, guests, partners, @fwillismusic and MNPS student artists/performers, and most importantly, our @nashvillepef team! I’m about to go in recovery mode for a few days (two big events back to back). Im grateful and appreciative of all the support! Here some of the pics I took and others took of me. See you next year at the 22nd Public Schools Hall of Fame! by @drdmgeorge

I would be remiss if I didn’t take a moment to acknowledge @tnedcoloralliance on its anniversary! Yesterday (9/28) made 9 years after I founded the organization. To see the impact now is amazing! To build something and watch it outlive you is indescribable…thanks to everyone that’s been along for the ride, contributed, prayed, cheered, etc. Literally all the goals that I wrote down 9 years ago I accomplished…as my brother @patrickwalkerreese says “Dreams do come true!” Check out the recap video from last week’s E3: Elevating Excellence in Education Awards Dinner! #cheersto9years

One of the toughest decisions I’ve had to make in a long time is to transition from @tnedcoloralliance. Everyone who knows me knows it’s my baby…but they also know that I also said I was looking to transition after my sons graduated. I wasn’t expecting things to move so quickly. But God’s time is not ours! AND one of the biggest compliments to entrepreneurship is building something that can continue to live and thrive under new leadership. That’s why I am excited to pass the torch onward to my colleague, brother, amazing leader @dr.shawnb to step into the role as TECA’s interim Executive Director!

I’m excited to move into my new role as @nashvillepef President and CEO starting in August in continue to build on the amazing work that @katiecour has led the last 7 years! This is a deeply meaningful milestone in my journey as an advocate for equity and excellence in education. I’m honored to lead an organization that has worked tirelessly to ensure all students in Nashville have access to a great public education.

Lastly, thank you to everyone that has walked along beside me on this journey; it means everything. After almost 9 years we built something special: a statewide network over 4000 educators, advocates, and community stakeholders, completely FREE leadership development and advocacy programming to our educators (never charged them a dime ever), provided over $350k in stipends to aspiring and current educators, free professional learning and access to a digital library, and impacted thousands of kids across the state. It’s been the honor of my life to serve TN’s educator community as TECA’s leader (it’s literally my dream job) alongside an amazing staff and board ,both past and present. Thank you for allowing my dream to come true! I look forward to this next chapter for myself and @tnedcoloralliance! 🙏🏽🙏🏽🙏🏽 by @drdmgeorge
