BAMBI

Scanned in this mini lego deer that I had built, using my iPhone and @polycam3d, then used #threejs to create a virtual forest scene where my virtual Bambi can live. The result? I’ve preserved my Lego Bambi forever in this eternal, perpetually evergreen forest, and I don’t know how to feel about it. There’s something melancholy about this project to me, like this low poly deer is the furthest thing from its truest form, every thing about his life is artifice. Anyways, plz go visit him, he might be lonely, link in bio 💔🦌

~ ANGEL NUMBERS ~

Hands down my favorite mari.zone micro site thus far. It’s an angel number phone wallpaper generator, with a random (or not so random) angel number, affirming word and randomized radial gradients. Generate an image (refresh as many times until you find one you love) and save the image to set as your phone wallpaper!!! Send pics of your fav generated image 🖤

Special thank you to @qshan for dev support and @bebritney for helping brainstorm affirming words 🫶🏽

As usual best on desktop, link in bio 🔗

MILAGROS ❤️‍🔥

While I was in Santa Fe, I kept seeing these small tin charms called “Milagros”, translating to “miracles” in Spanish. They are religious folk charms used for healing purposes and as votive offerings. I also visited the international folk museum where they had examples of charms and folk art from all over the world, and I got emotional when I saw how similar these folk charms were. I think there’s something beautiful and unbearably cute about humans across generations, around the world making little charms that end up looking so similar. Many of them depict parts of the body: hand, legs, eyes, heart. I’ve been thinking a lot about the concept of a charm, and with the recent popularity of trinkets and charms, it was nice to see that some things don’t change.

The prompt for this project was simple - what if thirst traps took work to view instead of being so easily accessible.

We have easier access to images than ever before in human history, especially revealing imagery. I wanted to experiment with the user needing to “decode” the image by putting in some kind of labor. A kind of metaphorical paywall. In this case, hovering over each pixel subdivides that pixel further and further until the image becomes clearer. Only the most determined user gets the reward.

Link in bio :) mobile AND desktop !! Wow !!! Good job Mari!!

I’ve also always loved this aphex twin cover and it went perfectly with this project lol.

Made using paper.js ~

POV: Your cat is your muse and you’re obsessed with him 🌙🖤🐈‍⬛

I was recently super inspired by @ameyasrealm and her mixed media film about her cat! <3

Cheech was being so cute, so I took stills from a video of him being cute, printed them on my thermal printer, added acrylic paint to the prints, then scanned them into photoshop and creating this simple frame animation.

COME TO MY ASTORIA STREET TREE CARE EVENT!
🌳🍀🌲🌴☘️🌿🍃🌱
TREES! TREES! TREES!

Do you need to touch grass? Do you want to feel part of the community? Do you love trees?
Come to my Astoria street tree care event next Saturday, April 4th at 9am in front of Broadway Library! This event is held with the Parks Department, who will provide all of the materials and tools, we just need the volunteers!

Register at https://tinyurl.com/astoriatrees

Did you know trees remove 1,100 tons of air pollution every year in NYC? They protect biodiversity, mitigate flood damage, cool our cities, improve our mental health, and so much more!

As Spring is approaching, come spend time outside and tend to the trees that you may not notice everyday but that bring small joys into everyone’s life. Let’s take care of them as they take care of us. We will be cleaning trash and litter of the tree beds, aerating soil, weeding, and finally mulching the tree beds so that they can have a bountiful spring <3 taken in Astoria, New York by @dreamy.zone
