While it’s been a rough summer in Nepal for various reasons - landslides, floods, and heavy snowfall - one thing you can do to help the situation there is join us for our next trip to the Everest Region! Bringing money into these areas as a tourist is the best way to help! As several of my fellow mountain friends, dear sherpa pals, expedition cohorts, and clients are getting ready to head to Manaslu (8163m / 26,781’) - I’m reminded of my very own ascent of Manaslu in 2019, Sept 27. It was a gorgeous summit and coincidentally as I looked back on some of my old footage, I reached the top the same morning as my friend the late @nimsdai was also nearing the summit during his 14 peaks project back then. With all the recent tragedy and major catastrophic flooding events it’s been hard to watch and my heart 💜 goes out to everyone impacted there! While I won’t be in Nepal until later this fall and of course next year again running some of our own programs there for @drjonsadventures - I’m looking forward to getting back into the mountains and take people to Nepal to continue to help bring money into the places I have loved visiting over the years! We @drjonsadventures hope you can consider joining us in 2026-2027 for one of our amazing curated trips to the Everest Region! I also just spent this past weekend on a pre trip prep and training and prep for one of my dear friends @mrjessewilliams who is also headed to Manaslu this week. There was never any doubt that my 11th summit of Kilimanjaro 🌋 would be celebrated with all 11 of our team members AND 11 more of our support team of local Tanzanian family members, porters and guides on the summit as well! Huge congrats to our amazing adventurers that reached the summit: Patrick, Thomas, Allie, Audrey, Mary, Cynta, Vishal, Preston, Bradley, Hunter, and David. You were all amazing. And of course massive shout out to my team @drjonsadventures: Freddy Juju, Immanuel, Barack, Mary, Reuben, Erick, Raymond, Katunze, Jolo, and Daniel, as well as Good Luck and the squad at EAS! So much love to everyone that helped us on the journey. We were treated to a cold but calm and sunny morning with a spectacular sunrise. So many memories to cherish for a lifetime on this year’s edition of Kilimanjaro. Sad it has come to an end, but already looking forward to the next adventure- not only with this crew but with many others next year when we return to Africa! Putting moves on the Barranco wall during Day 4 of our Kilimanjaro climb. Barranco camp at 13,000/4000m is the gateway to arguably the most scenic and fun part of climbing Kilimanjaro outside of the summit day. But do some say that the journey is more important than the summit? Well, without this day we wouldn’t be able to go to the summit and this little teamwork exercise where we scramble to ledges together is the most fun part of the climb as we reach higher and higher! HUAYHUASH: SIX DAYS IN THE HIGH AND WILD 🏔️ 🇵🇪 🥾 🏕️ 🫏 Some adventures are hard to put into words. The Cordillera Huayhuash is one of them. I just completed a 6-day, ~60-mile tour de Huayhuash, averaging roughly 10 miles a day while circling some of the most spectacular 20,000-foot peaks in the Andes. And I didn’t simply follow the standard circuit 🫏 🐎 🏕️ . I went ahead and added a small variation through the Alpine High Route of Paso de Trapecio and the Jurau Glacier Traverse—two sections that made an already incredible trek even more wild, technical, and unforgettable. Endless glacial views. 🧊 Turquoise alpine lagunas. 🌊 High mountain passes. 🏔️ Long, challenging days. 🌄 Cold dips in crystal-clear lakes. And perhaps best of all… very few people. That sense of remoteness is what makes Huayhuash so special. In a world where many of the iconic trekking destinations are becoming increasingly crowded, this corner of Peru still feels raw, wild, and truly adventurous.
