KODIAK UTMB 100K 🏔️💥🏃‍♂️ @utmbworldseries

Another finish line. Another reminder of how lucky I am to have a body that can still push, endure, and take me on these adventures. 🙏

Big gratitude for an awesome race experience in Big Bear Lake, CA — huge thanks to race directors Suzy and Herald for the incredible hospitality, to all the fellow ultra runners I shared a mile (or a few!) with along the way, and to Mother Nature for giving us some decent weather before Hurricane Rachel rolled in! 🌧️

The results? 129th out of 550 runners — top 27% of the field and 16th in my division! 💪 🏃‍♂️

But the bigger win? 6 UTMB Running Stones in the bank! 🎲🔥 Every stone helps improve my chances in the draw for the 2027 UTMB 100M World Championships. That’s the bigger goal, and we’re stacking the odds one race at a time!

At the end of the day, it’s about the people, the places, the challenge, and never taking for granted the ability to get out there and test yourself.

Grateful for the miles. Grateful for the community. And grateful this body still wants to GO! 🙌

Onward to the next adventure! 🏔️⚡️

🍂🍁 FALL COLORS ARE POPPING! 🍁🍂

Colorado is putting on its annual show — and THIS WEEK is prime time in many places! Some areas are peaking up to 10 days early this year. 🤯

So… who’s getting outside to see it?! 🏔️🍂

I’ve got 3 of my favorite off-the-beaten-path spots to catch incredible fall colors this weekend — away from the crowds.

👇 Comment “FALL COLORS” and I’ll send you my Top 3!

Get outside. Chase the colors. Make some memories.

As several of my fellow mountain friends, dear sherpa pals, expedition cohorts, and clients are getting ready to head to Manaslu (8163m / 26,781’) - I’m reminded of my very own ascent of Manaslu in 2019, Sept 27. It was a gorgeous summit and coincidentally as I looked back on some of my old footage, I reached the top the same morning as my friend the late @nimsdai was also nearing the summit during his 14 peaks project back then. With all the recent tragedy and major catastrophic flooding events it’s been hard to watch and my heart 💜 goes out to everyone impacted there! While I won’t be in Nepal until later this fall and of course next year again running some of our own programs there for @drjonsadventures - I’m looking forward to getting back into the mountains and take people to Nepal to continue to help bring money into the places I have loved visiting over the years! We @drjonsadventures hope you can consider joining us in 2026-2027 for one of our amazing curated trips to the Everest Region!

I also just spent this past weekend on a pre trip prep and training and prep for one of my dear friends @mrjessewilliams who is also headed to Manaslu this week. I want to send a nice little shout out of well wishes to Jesse as well as to all of my Nepalese brothers and all of the people I know that will be on the mountain again this season. Be safe and have fun! #seeyouonthesummit #nepal @coster.arnold @jenjen_lama @sevensummittreks @justin.sackett @himali #manaslu

To say this summit was special would be an understatement.

At roughly 5 days in, 15,000 feet of elevation, and 30 miles into the journey it hit me like a wave.

I was reflecting on the challenges our team had overcome so far and what was yet to come, knowing the summit was less than 24 hours away. “Surely, this is the hardest thing I’ve ever done”, I thought to myself.

Until it dawned on me that it actually wasn’t. I had aspects of my life that I hadn’t reflected on in quite some time, flash into my mind and quietly bring me to tears, as I trudged up the hill to our high camp.

Caring for my dying mother at age 22, trying my best to stay strong for her day after day, while watching her deteriorate was one of the hardest things I’ve ever done.

And telling my sick father that it was okay to let go, and that my sisters and I would be okay (a promise he made to my mom before she passed), because I knew that’s what he wanted; when I actually wanted to be selfish and beg him to keep fighting.

Or spending part of my teenage years in an emotionally and physically abusive relationship with someone who ended up taking their own life, only to come out the other side with a greater capacity to love than I knew was possible.

& imploding my own life and leaving a relationship of 5 years with a person I shared so much love with, because I knew our goals for the future weren’t aligned.

Those were the hardest things I’ve ever done, and the mountain reminded me of this.

Every time I was tired, hurting, or “over it”, I would ask the mountain to give me strength.

And instead, she reminded me of who I am.

That my strength doesn’t lie in my body or my mind, the aspects of myself I tend to work on developing most… But in my spirit - the part of me that bends and bends and bends with the pain of life, but will never fully break.

This summit started as a goal to achieve and something to conquer, and instead became a journey of remembrance and coming home to Self.

So much gratitude for this mountain, this climb, and everyone who made it possible.

Asante sana, Kilimanjaro. 🙏🏼

There was never any doubt that my 11th summit of Kilimanjaro 🌋 would be celebrated with all 11 of our team members AND 11 more of our support team of local Tanzanian family members, porters and guides on the summit as well! Huge congrats to our amazing adventurers that reached the summit: Patrick, Thomas, Allie, Audrey, Mary, Cynta, Vishal, Preston, Bradley, Hunter, and David. You were all amazing. And of course massive shout out to my team @drjonsadventures: Freddy Juju, Immanuel, Barack, Mary, Reuben, Erick, Raymond, Katunze, Jolo, and Daniel, as well as Good Luck and the squad at EAS!
