What a session at IIT Delhi today!

With Inter-IIT around the corner, we spoke to IIT Delhi’s athletes about staying injury-free all the way through December, across football, hockey, athletics, badminton, basketball, volleyball, cricket, tennis, squash, table tennis, water polo and weightlifting.

We covered:
• Why injuries spike after exam season
• A warm-up that actually works
• Myth or fact: “no pain, no gain”
• When to see a physio, and when it’s an emergency

The energy at the session was unreal. Thank you to the IIT Delhi sports committee and coaches for having us.

Go well in Kharagpur, IIT Delhi. Play all of December.

A rotator cuff tear does not automatically means surgery.

This is one of the most misunderstood injuries in sport and one of the most over operated ones.

The rotator cuff is a group of four muscles that stabilise and control the shoulder joint. When one or more of these tear, the immediate assumption is surgical repair. But research consistently shows that for partial tears and even some full thickness tears, structured conservative rehabilitation produces outcomes comparable to the surgery; without the recovery time, the risks or the cost.

What rehabilitation does is rebuild the strength of the surrounding muscles to compensate for and support the danged tissue. The shoulder finds a new way to function; one that is stable, strong, and pain-free.

The prerequisite is proper assessment. Not every tear is the same. Not every shoulder responds the same way. The programme has to match the injury, the athlete, and the demand of their sport.

This wrestler is back on the mat.

ACL Surgery is not the finish line. It’s the starting point.

And every starting point looks different.

Same diagnosis. Same procedure. But different strength levels, different muscle response, different movement patterns , different compensations that developed before and after surgery.

This is why we assess before we resume.

Before a single rehab exercise is prescribed, we need to understand where this body is right now. What it can do. What it can’t. What it’s protecting. What’s been switched off since the surgery.

That assessment becomes the foundation of a programme built for one person not a standard ACL protocol., not a discharge sheet, not a generic rehab plan.

One body. One baseline. One plan.

7 Weeks post ACL Reconstruction. Session 3

@nihaao13_ is a professional bike racer. An accident took her off track. Surgery put her back to starting from zero. This is how she is getting back to the starting line.

At 7 weeks, the graft is still healing. It hasn’t fully bonded to the bone yet. This is the stage most people want to rush; the swelling is down, the pain is manageable and it feels like things are fine.

It’s not fine yet, it’s still fragile.

The work at this stage is precise. Restore movement. Protect the graft. Begin rebuilding the muscle that switched off after surgery. Nothing more, nothing less.

The athletes who recover well are not the ones who pushed hardest at 7 weeks. They are the ones who are patient.

Competing at ADCC India 2026. Pain in the mat. A match still ahead.

We assessed. We worked. He went back out harder.

@_abra_ham_wrestler_ won a medal. And we are so proud of him.

This is what Sports Physiotherapy is actually for not just the recovery after, but the performance during. Keeping an athlete in the field, on the mat, in the competition, when it matters the most.

The body can do more than it thinks it can. Sometimes it just needs the right support at the right moment.

BJJ is one of the most physically demanding combat sports in the world.

Joint locks taken to the limit. Chokes held until submission. Full contact ground fighting where your shoulder, elbow, knee or neck can go from fine to injured in under a second.

The injury patterns are specific; hyperextended elbows from armbars, rotator cuff stress from kimuras, neck strain from guard pressure, knee ligament load from leg entanglements.

ADCC is the most prestigious submission grappling competition in the world.

We were the Official Physio partner on the mat.

Not every injury announces itself loudly. Some show up the next morning. Some show up three weeks later as a compensation pattern nobody catches. That’s the work.

Competing at ADCC India Open this Saturday? Save this before you step on the mats.

Your competition-day injury-prevention guide:
1. Don’t change anything the night before.
2. Warm up properly. A cold body tears.
3. Tap early. Tap on the position, not on the pain.
4. Protect your neck.
5. Stay warm and ready between matches.
6. If something feels wrong, don’t walk it off.

Proud to be Official Physiotherapy Partner for ADCC India Open 2026. Find us at the H.O.M.E. Physiotherapy Zone through the day for assessment, strapping and recovery support.

Train hard. Compete smart. Leave with your season intact.

Football demands more than technique.

Speed, agility and skill on the pitch are built on a foundation of strength, stability and neuromuscular control off it. Most young athletes train their game. Very few train their body for the demand of the game.

Single leg stability, explosive power and balance under load; these are not extras. They are what keep a footballer on the pitch through a full season.

Strength and conditioning is not separate from sports physiotherapy. It is part of it. Building the athlete before the injury happens is always better than rebuilding after.

If you are young athlete or a parent of one, this is where the performance starts.

A patella dislocation on the badminton court.

A month in plaster. Then a brace. By month three he was walking again and walked into our clinic for rehabilitation.

This is session two.

Patella dislocation is one of those injuries where the initial treatment is often immobilisation, which is necessary but what follows matters just as much.

Weeks of reduced movement means the muscles around the knee lose strength and the joint looses its sense of position. This is what rehabilitation addresses from the very first session.

We started with patience mobilisation working on restoring movement at the joint itself. Then early weight bearing exercises to rebuild the strength and knee control.

Session two. Already moving in the right direction.

If you have had a patella dislocation and are unsure when or how to start moving again, get assessed.
The sooner rehabilitation begins, the better the outcome.

Arthritis doesn’t mean stop moving. It means move smarter.

One of the most common mistakes in arthritis management is avoiding weight bearing exercises out of fear of making the pain worse. Research says the opposite. Controlled weight bearing strengthens the muscles around the joint, reduces load on the cartilage and improves overall joint function.

Non weight bearing exercises have their place, but they are not the endpoint. The goal is always to progress toward functional movement because that is what daily life demands.

The three exercises in this reel, chair squats, calf raises and bridging are starting points. Simple, low load and effective when done with the right form and the right progression.

Start only after assessment by a Physiotherapist. Stop if you notice increased swelling, sharp pain or instability after exercise.

Save this and share it with someone who has been told to rest their way through arthritis.

Most people think physiotherapy begins when something goes wrong.

For @bhavya_bajaj.5354 and @bajaj_bhavit, it started long before that.

These international twin skaters have been training with me for more than 10 years. Not for injury but for performance.

Skating demands single leg stability, rotational power and landing control under full competition load. The margin for error is zero.

So we build foundation off it.

Strength work. Plyometrics. Movement quality. All of it designed around what skating actually demands from the body.

This is sports physiotherapy. Not just rehab. The full picture.
