Yesterday, we showed up at Councilmember Feliz’s Bronx office with one ask: hold a hearing on the CURB Act.

Instead, we were met with police barricades, a shut-down block, and counterprotesters who put hands on people in our group while NYPD officers watched.

This is how the SRG handles peaceful protest. It’s time for accountability.

27 Council Members already back Int. 796. Councilmember Feliz, schedule the hearing.

Disband the SRG. Pass the CURB Act. ✊ by @drumnyc

Brazil is no one’s backyard. Not Trump’s. Not the U.S. or Israel’s.

Over the past several months, Trump, the right, and corporations based in the U.S. and around the world have been exerting pressure on Brazil to promote the election of far-right candidate Flavio Bolsonaro over the Workers Party incumbent President Lula.

Bolsonaro is the son of former president Jair Bolsonaro and has received support from the global far right who intend to roll back the social programs and environmental protections that Lula’s administration has delivered. Bolsonaro threatens an end to Brazilian sovereignty and will hand Brazil over to the U.S. and foreign corporate interests.

All eyes on Brazil and their upcoming election on October 25! The U.S. must stay out of Brazil’s democratic processes. by @drumnyc

We gathered outside Councilmember Oswald Feliz’s office in the Bronx this morning to urge him to hold a hearing for @chiosse’s CURB Act (Int. 796) to disband the NYPD’s Strategic Response Group.

With 26 Council Members in support, the CURB Act needs just a few more votes to pass in the City Council.

Instead of being met with an open space to peacefully assemble, we were met with police barricades, an entire block shut down, and aggressive counterprotesters who assaulted members of our peaceful gathering while the NYPD stood by.

This is exactly why the SRG and the NYPD’s handling of peaceful protests must be fundamentally reformed. We won’t be intimidated. Disband the SRG. Pass the CURB Act. by @drumnyc

Please join us in our third Nottinghamshire Solidarity Network meeting on Wednesday 28th October. We have an exciting lineup of speakers, including: Fahd Ahmed, Executive Director of DRUM, an organisation which was instrumental in Zohran Mamdani's campaign for Mayor; Helen Steel, an environmental and social justice activist who fought undercover policing and the McLibel case, the longest trial in English legal history; and Stuart Richards, Regional Secretary of TUC Midlands. by @drumnyc

Join Break the Chain for our first mass meeting on October 17!

We’re organizing to end the ongoing genocide on Palestine by building toward a people’s arms embargo in New York City. Our pressure target is JFK airport, through which hazardous cargo is shipped to Israel to commit genocide and endless wars of aggression. By facilitating arm shipments to Israel, JFK is enabling genocide and compromising the safety of both workers and the traveling public.

Our mass meeting is open to all – neighbors, workers, and community members. We will be introducing Break the Chain, discussing the introduction of our state legislation in the fall, and giving everyone an opportunity to share your vision, get plugged into the campaign, start an organizing committee, and endorse our legislation.

⏰ 2-4:30PM

Thursday afternoon, an ICE agent shot Oscar Belgal in the neck in front of his 5-year-old son in Marble Hill.

Mayor Mamdani has called for abolishing IFE, and we agree, but that fight happens at the federal level. Here’s what we can do right now at City Hall ➡️

→ Stop NYPD from clearing the way for ICE
→ Close the HSI loophole and pull NYPD off HSI task forces
→ End qualified immunity for every officer in NYC
→ Fund legal defense for every New Yorker facing deportation

Swipe for the full list and the bills to pass, including the NYC Trust Act (Int. 209), Int. 1077 and Int. 1078.

Comment MELT ICE to take action now.

NYC’s richest second-home owners are furious 😤

The city just started taxing luxury second homes worth $5M+, and it could bring in $500M a year.

Now they’re suing, calling the tax unconstitutional. A separate lawsuit over the rollout forced the city to redo it (the city is appealing).

This isn’t just about NYC, this is about the rich protecting the rich from even the smallest amount of taxation! by @drumnyc

Over 1,450 people lost their lives in the tragic floods which occured at the Nepal-Tibet border at the end of August. Over 5,500 are still missing. Last Thursday, Nepali PM Balendra Shah addressed the UN General Assembly and spoke to the dire need to take action as the climate crisis worsens.

Nepal contributes less than 0.1% of global emissions, yet is paying a horrific price for a crisis which they have not created. The cost of rebuilding and repair after this disaster is estimated at approximately $5 billion.

The U.S. and other high-emitting countries must meet their moral and legal obligations to Nepal and other Global South countries that are bearing the worst of the climate crisis. by @drumnyc

Safety starts with listening to Deliveristas ✊

We need safer streets, but not at the expense of the workers who keep this city moving. No unnecessary NYPD interactions, no bike confiscations, no unjust app deactivations

And we sure as hell shouldn’t be trusting billion-dollar delivery apps to police the workers they already exploit! by @drumnyc

Last Friday, September 25th, over 100+ frontline community members, organizers, activsits and movement leaders from local New York organizations, Indigenous peoples from the so-called US, Global South countries and Europe came together for “What Time Is it? Global Climate Movements Strategy Exchange. About ~40+ DRUM members from across all our bases engaged leading chants, listening exchanges, an anti-imperialist panel with Movement Against Dams and Climate Crisis (MAB/MAR), Friends of the Earth International and Pueblo Action Alliance. There were sharp grassroots internationalist perspectives shared assessments about the shifts in the conjuncture—the compounding crisis of imperialism that threatens and militarizes our homelands and peoples and offers an opportunity for people-to-people organizing for climate justice across the borders. We had dynamic small group discussions and took up the proposal to increase our cooridnation in this next period in defense of our peoples, lands and futures. Much gratitude to our partners: @ggjalliance @foe_int @atingidosporbarragens @grassrootsintl by @drumnyc
