Just back from an incredible weekend at Cheltenham Literature Festival - but what to read when surrounded by so many fantastic authors, illustrators and books? Easy question! Helping Hero by the powerhouse that is @nickyloveswriting (bonus that I got to hang with her all weekend too🤩). Nicola has loads of exciting projects in the works…looking forward to reading more from her.
Another #Storymix banger - kids today are so lucky to have books like this being published for them ✨✨ by @e.zwords

It has been a great debut year for @thatbishasli and her YA debut, Love On Sight, with a Branford Boase win not long ago and a Diverse Book Awards shortlisting just announced.
I’m always excited to read something that approaches language in a way not often seen in children’s/YA books and this dual narrative contemporary romance definitely delivered. I also admit I’m immediately biased towards anything set in London, so another ✅ for me.

It’s about to technically be autumn, but it is still feeling very summery so here’s another of my fun summer reads! Hari Kumar, the Race Day Disaster by @rashmiwriting and illustrated by Mamta Singh.
🌟
I know kids love a series, but as an adult reader of kids books, there are just too many great books for that kind of commitment 😅. However, there are a handful that I will always be excited to read and this is one of them. Love the voice, love the illustrations, love the laughs, love Hari 🫶🏽 & looking forward to book 3! by @e.zwords

Felt very privileged to attend Poet of the People, a beautiful celebration of Benjamin Zephaniah’s life & work. @george_triggs_sculpture incredible sculpture was the centrepiece. The panel discussion was emotional and insightful - there was something very powerful in hearing how Zephaniah had touched each person’s life and seeing how his legacy lives on through their work and art. We were treated to poetry readings by @casey_bailey and a brilliant swimming pool analogy for teaching poetry. Also had the nicest time chatting with Qian & Jodie💖.
George’s sculpture will be on display until the end of the month (I think), if you are in the area it is most definitely worth a visit.

Congratulations @isaac.hamilmck - what a perfect way to celebrate launching Jamaal Target 🎯 into the world (soon!). I read the first chapter of this book on your phone on a train and was immediately hooked - the rest of the book just kept getting better. Looking forward to watching your career soar 💫

I’ve diligently completed my spy training and if Phantom needs some enthusiastic new recruits, I know some people 😉 @dominicyoboue @writeonauthor @ramzeecreates @hey.chante &Chiemeka taken in Spy Games by @e.zwords

✨💜🌙All the behind the scenes drama at K-pop Academy in the battle to become a member of new girl band, Eclipse.
K-POP Making the Band is my second teen holiday read and I have to say I’m so happy to see more fun and inclusive books with real teen-appeal being published in this space. Books like MTB are what will get teens (back) into reading, and the word count, at just over 200 pages, is perfect!

👑💖‘Princess (Apparently)’ is the perfect beach read - escapism, first romance, tension, intrigue… (actually, this book has so much going for it!). @sirenknight has created a teen heroine in Della who readers will love rooting for and who I’m sure will resonate with so many of us. Loved it! Also feel like this would work brilliantly on screen 🍿👀 cover illustration by @mimimoffie #summerreads by @e.zwords

💛🌻🔆Is it even summer without a sunny yellow book to read? If you haven’t found yours yet, I recommend this excellent contemporary MG twist on Robin Hood told through three (yes, 3!!!) povs.
