Had a ridiculously good time at the @thediversebookawards. Didn't take any pics of anyone so here's one I nicked from @ramzeecreates and here's a pic I did take of a selection of the books which were celebrated last night, including mine!

This time last week I was surrounded by books and legends! what a weekend 😍🙌🏾

Thank you so much to @booktrust for the opportunity of a lifetime. We got to see the behind the scenes of @erichuangbooks event and how it all works. And all the talks and workshops were brilliant. I’m so glad to have met so many incredible people, till we meet again x

#chetlitfest #artistlife

When I was younger, I’d teach myself how to draw by tracing over all the Jacqueline Wilson books and I’m so happy to have met the illustrator @nick.sharratt ☺️ absolute legend ⭐️

Learned so much from this group, they’re so inspiring to be around 💐

Brilliant workshop by @rbiddulph 🎸

Completely full circle moment. I was literally telling everyone in Sri Lanka I was going to a book festival in October not too long ago. So unexpected and the food was amazing 🤩

Another legend 💐 thank you for the signed copy @lawrencepatrice and I loved getting to know you

Learned to draw cats with @laura_ellen_anderson. Such a fun workshop and i love how she draws cats. So glad to have met you 💐🥰

September was a whirlwind but one of the lovely things was that Wildcat and the Gathering Storm was released into the wild (see what I did there?) and it was a happy day!

Puffin and Lance are back on their adventures! The Wildcat series by @lui.land is such a special series to me and so it was really wonderful to welcome book two with such a lovely bunch 💕

Thank you @harpercollinsch @farshorebooks for an absolutely delightful 100th birthday celebration at @zsllondonzoo for the “bear of very little brain”, Winnie the Pooh! We were treated to insightful and funny tales of Pooh’s history, especially the story of Winifred the bear being given a home at London Zoo itself 🍯

Cally Poplack (Managing Director and Publishing of Harper Collins) shared her own childhood memories and wisdoms of Pooh’s, and we were treated to a reading from the fifth sequel itself #alittleboyandhisbear by @janehriordan about the confusion between Pooh and Piglet of what actually is an acre in the 100 Hundred Acre Wood ❤️🍯😉

Thank you Jane and Andrew for signing my copy which will find a special home with two very beautiful children in Santa Monica ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️

Thank you Hannah and your publicity team for a brilliant party and excellent goody bag!! The attention to detail was epic, starting with the most perfect venue.

Happy birthday Winnie the Pooh!! Visitors have until 1st November to visit the Pooh installation at ZSL.

I really love this book The Other Boy by @hamed.amiri1989 - it’s a very beautiful and powerful story of fleeing Afghanistan in the year 2000 as a 10 year old and I highly recommend reading it. Just went to the book launch and now recommend it even more! Thank you for a fascinating night - read this book!

*SOUND UP!* The @branfordboaseaward is up there with my favourite awards because it passionately celebrates debut writers and their editors. As a librarian with a budget (for which I am extremely grateful for), and being in the very happy position to constantly be reading with nominations in mind (!!!), I regularly book debut authors, buy a lot of debuts, and I’m sent a lot of debuts to read and review 📚❤️📚❤️

I also visit publishers regularly with the #ylglondon committee and attend lots of book launches where we are very lucky to hear from editors, so to have an award which recognises their highly significant contribution to these brilliant book is fantastic to see! 🎉🎉🎉

I did not envy the judges at all (which included @margaretmcdonaldauthor and @katherinewoodfine ) as this was such a strong shortlist. Massive and very well deserved congratulations to @thatbishasli and @shaluvallepur @chickenhousebooks 👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼🎉🎉🎉🎉

Thank you to @walkerbooksuk for telling us all about the joyous children’s writing competition. Congratulations to the six winners and I look forward to reading the entries on the #branfordboase website ❤️📚❤️

Particularly lovely to congratulate @kenechiudogu @jamackay_ and @janeenhayat in person, and I didn’t get a chance to tell @ellarosedove how much my pupils love your book too! 😍🥰 Thank you to @becki.writes for signing your beautiful book for my Margot and our chat! 📚❤️📚 And @harrytrevaldwyn your book sounds right up my street!! 🤣😉❤️

Always a treat to spend quality time with my #kidslit community and meet new members including @dominicyoboue who has a new picture book out TODAY (so look him up!!) and more to come so watch this space!! Thank you @e.zwords for the intro! 😍

Thank you so much to @andreareece18 and @juliaeccleshare and to lovely @clpe.org.uk 🎉🎉
