Hey all, I wanted to write a more personal note about what happened at Dumont. With the help of the collective force of people who want to do the right thing, we blocked an ordinance that would limit the representation of already underrepresented communities. I'm incredibly grateful for those who spoke up. You guys don't understand the shock I was in when I walked into that room and saw 150 people squeezed together (mostly) all of them with the intent to block this ordinance. In such a short amount of time, we were able to organize and show the council that people are willing to fight. That is insane. I spoke to Councilwoman Petry, and she has shared her commitment to pro-LGBTQ+ causes in Dumont, and I'm hoping that the people of Dumont will be willing to share those fruits. I have expressed this many times, and I hope that people will understand and share my motivation, but I am not from Dumont, but I still encouraged those who could to come. This was not just to fight for Dumont, but to fight for a future threat that they themselves could face and expect the same solidarity. When we fight together we win together. When we speak up we make things happen.

When we speak up. we. make. things. happen.

Silence is a choice, a choice we can not afford to make. Always continue to spread the word. I love you all, always. Please, have a fantastic night. by @eddiraymond

No post the past few days simply because school has been biting me in the butt lately. I know hopes don't seem high, there are too many reasons for them to not be. If it is any solace, you aren't alone. There is a reason so many people are working their butts off for you. We love each other, and we can't let the actions of a few fascists prevent us from coming together. The more of us, the better. What doesn't kill us WILL make us stronger. Love you all. Always. ❤️ I feel strongly about many issues in the world. Environment, family, education, healthcare, affirmative action, immigration, the wealth gap, our foreign atrocities, and of course LGBTQ+ issues. Unfortunately, due to the mass amounts of turmoil all of these interest groups face, by @eddiraymond

On Friday, May 8, I had the honor of receiving the Gen-Z Makers of Change award from the Russ Berrie Foundation for my continued work in intersectionality-focused LGBTQ+ advocacy. I am very grateful to the Russ Berrie Foundation for providing me this award and their significant contributions to social justice, healthcare, education, and interfaith unity.

However, I can't ignore the organization's contribution to zionist efforts through their refusal to acknowledge Palestinian genocide, removal of funding for organizations who don't directly support zionism, and their support for organizations who have directly supported the role that Israel has played in genocide, occupation, and the encouragement of Americans to take part and pay for endless violence. The Foundation makes the common error within our current political climate of mistaking the denial of the very real suffering Jews face with the denial of those to support a violent, nationalist state.

I do not support zionism, racism, national aggrandizement, expansionism, anti-Semitism, or fascism in any of the forms it shows up in.

I applaud the Russel Berrie Foundation for the support they've given to research, support for the elderly, community-building, bridge-building, and the positive impact they do provide. I am grateful for receiving this award, and I will use the funds I received from it to be able to continue my advocacy to take every opportunity (as I hope is evident by this post) to promote social justice, equity, and just doing what I think is right as I move onto university and adulthood very soon.

I hope the Foundation continues to learn and grow, and I hope they continue to do more of the right and none of the unforgivable. The ideas of liberation, reparation, and actual pluralism for Palestinians and Israelis are clearly present, but it can be a hard step to look at the big picture.

Anyone who knows me knows that my passion for justice is embedded in everything I do. I hope this was as succinct and comprehensible as it could be, and if you have any commentary I encourage you to provide it. Thanks to everyone who's given me support and congratulations.
I love you all <3

We can make deliberate choices on how we choose to spend our money and I guarantee you you can get that same sandwich and coffee you get from Starbucks for cheaper and tastier at your local deli. It is impossible to make 100% ethical choices under a system that is inherently unethical. (There is no ethical consumption under capitalism if you will) Pobody's nerfect, but we can be conscious of what we spend our money on and choose to be better every day. And yes, your money does make a difference.

Hello all. I'd like to share that I will be peacefully attending NO KINGS organized by Rutherford Indivisible on October 18th at SUNSET PARK (not Lincoln) from 1pm-3pm.

Unlike the first NO KINGS protest, I'd like to invite those who stand for the working people and for the freedom of all oppressed people to attend and speak up with me. No genuine anti-fascist movement is simply a liberal hug box.

If you speak up this Saturday, don't let it be the only time you do so. Continue to organize with others in the community, volunteer often, and always be a helping hand. No power was built by simply scrolling through Instagram reels.

If you have any questions or would like to help please DM me.

With love, always,

I regret saying anything regarding Charlie Kirk. This is not because I take back any of the words I said. I still stand by them, but because there are more important things to talk about.

Political violence occurs every day. It occurs when we don't regulate weaponry. It occurs when we commit genocide. It occurs when we deport families. It occurs when we deny healthcare. It occurs when we allow people to go hungry. It happened to the Minnesota legislators. It still happens to hundreds of students every day.

This is caused by politics. Not Democrats vs. Republicans, but people with empathy vs. those who think it is too dangerous.

Liberation for all
With love always

Charlie Kirk was an activist in the far-right who founded Turning Point USA and advocated for Trump in the 2024 election. He has been known to describe basic empathy as doing "a lot of damage." He's an extreme Christian Fundamentalist, advocates for extreme government control, and simply put, is a fascist. The term "fascist," should not be thrown around lightly, and oftentimes we don't even recognize it until we are faced with it. Sometimes we might not even realize we are on the side of it. Please approach this and all conversations with nuance and understanding.

People die of shootings and political violence all the time, however, it's often not shown on news, seen as insignificant, or deliberately covered up. Kirk himself has directly advocated for the death of thousands of innocent people. Many of us have the privilege to not have experienced the harm Kirk has caused, and as human beings were immediately shocked to find out about his death. No one deserves to die, however when systems are created that hinder democracy, bad things happen because they have to. It is in the natural course of events that when peace is not made an option, violence is inevitable. When the law is not upheld, one can't expect themselves to uphold the law. I do not celebrate his death, but I will not shed a single tear.

I pray for the people that had to witness the shooting firsthand, and for the family of Charlie Kirk. I pray that the suspect is given a fair trial as is their constitutional right. I pray that the executive office does not take unnecessary action in response to the shooting, but I know they will.

Now is a time to prepare for the worst. Let's not pretend that things will get better by just saying "No Kings!" Let us be strong and confident in our communities. Take care of one another and fight back when you need to.

Lead with love,
Always,

We grow up so fast!! 🚼
Translation: googoogaga

I was gonna put anthems for a seventeen year old girl as the song for this but I didn't want you guys to cry too much. Also, I think JVB captured a similar theme that I want to express.

(I was gonna say cringe alert but then realized it's okay to be cringe but then wanted you guys to know that it's okay to be cringe hence why this blurb is right here)

I'm so scared of getting older you know. I remember when I was that age and the only people I really had to look up to were Faith and Felix because they were the only ones like me and were proof that kids like me could even hit that age. Sorry to name drop but I love you both and am giving props. Anyways, now I'm the age they were when we met and I get to say to myself "Fuck yeah! I'm alive!" I get to help my peers and the littluns see that trans kids can be happy and regardless of your identity you can just be expressive and honest. JUST BE ART. YOU ARE ART. That's besides the point and a solid conversation for another time. Regardless, I acknowledge I'm not perfect and that's where that fear lies. I'm afraid that I won't be a perfect leader, mentor, or friend. I'm scared that I won't be able to enjoy all the things that a "normal" child who has the privilege to even consider these activities would. I know I won't be able to be there for everyone every time while still showing up for myself, and I hope that everyone reading this knows I have love for them so genuinely. We live, we laugh, we love, and most importantly we learn.

Happy loving party people. Looking forward to continuing to show up for all of y'all and then y'all showing up for others. Pass it on yk.

Much love, as always, your friend, Eddi W Raymond taken in Rutherford High School (New Jersey) by @eddiraymond
