My sons first day at school 😢 I didn't want to interrupt all the happy photos last week, but feel it's important to post this to raise awareness of the thousands of children who are not in education.

We are living this everyday right now and it hurts. My 12 year old is so bright and I've begged for help, no one listens.

The school and Oxfordshire County Council have breached so many laws with hundreds of parents before me, why are they still making the same mistakes?

Everyday I send letters, emails, make calls, kindly asking for them to fulfil their duty of care.

I'm now using my voice, making a stand and challenging them - they don't like it.

Bullying a parent and trying to knock my confidence is not OK. Keeping my son and other children in this unlawful situation is not OK.

I believe the truth always comes out.... And I'm dam patient!

Be the voice for your child ✨ 8 months ago I set up an alternative provision with £0 - we had no venue, no staff, not even a table & chairs!

The education system is failing so many children including my son. Parents are fighting for basic rights, teachers are leaving and students who can’t attend school feel like no one wants them.

My alternative education provision @oxfordcreators provides a nurturing environment that empowers young people who are at risk of exclusion or don’t attend school due to anxiety, mental health or a complexity of other reasons

4 years ago, I was an angry and frustrated mum. I was in complete shock at how the education system treats our most vulnerable children. I started posting on social media about my journey in setting up an alternative provision for excluded children.

I knew nothing about how the education system worked and didn’t understand anything about special educational needs.

I had no teaching experience.
I had no team.
I had no money.

Fast forward to 2026. My first solo alternative provision @oxfordcreators is going from strength to strength.

I have also teamed up with 2 passionate dads to bring the UK a national network of high quality alternative provisions called @resolve_ap

Who would have thought posting on social media would lead me to getting to know @mrsreandpsheteacher - who is now partnering with us to launch our first site in the north of England!

We believe children deserve to be understood, supported and given another chance — especially when mainstream education hasn’t worked for them.

Sometimes the right people meet in the most unexpected places. ✨

BIG NEWS! Within 12 months of launching, we can’t believe we are opening our first alternative provision site in the north of England.

We’ve partnered with a former teacher who’s so passionate about reforming the education system. Who could it be? 👀

It was never my dream to work with children excluded from school or those with special educational needs. It was never in my life plans to start a non profit.

Up until 5 years ago, I had no clue what an alternative provision was! Let alone have an ambition to be a founder of one.

But my anger towards the failings of the education system was unbearable, so I had to do something about it.

Every child deserves a full time education

4 years ago I was a frustrated, overwhelmed and an exhausted mum, fighting the education system. All I wanted was for my son and other misunderstood children like him to receive a full time education.

I took the anger towards the broken education system and created a non profit called @oxfordcreators - the mission was to ensure that all children felt valued, included and were given a second chance to thrive.

We’ve supported hundreds of children across Oxfordshire who have received 1:1 mentoring, therapy, fitness sessions, GCSE tutoring and pathways to post 16 placements.

Moving forward, we’ve got lots planned at Oxford Creators to ensure our students and parents are being fully supported.

Plus, everything I’ve learnt in the last 4 years about SEN, trauma, behaviour and hiring the right staff is now going into a national company, where as a team we are determined to create high quality alternative provision across the UK

How many of us are known as ‘that mum’ that will continue to call out injustice. Enough is enough. The education system is broken. The youth justice system is broken. The social care system is broken.

Keep being that mum that holds professionals to account. As a mum with lived experience of the failures within the education system and now a professional within the alternative education provision sector, I keep myself to account and urge the parents and schools that work with us to keep my alternative provisions to account.

Our most vulnerable children are being failed repeatedly. If we don’t speak up, who will?

Re-introducing myself 💕 I’m a mum that was so frustrated by the failures of the education system that I built an alternative provision from scratch (with no money, no staff and no experience working with children who have special educational needs)

An alternative provision is like a small school. We can support children for a maximum of 18 hours per week. The child remains on-roll with their school or under the care of the local authority.

I’m an advocate for misunderstood children. Many have been excluded from school and have special educational needs like adhd, autism or PDA.

After 4 years of running my first alternative provision, which I founded as a non profit. I have now teamed up with 2 dads to bring the UK a national movement of alternative education.

We are determined to ensure that no child is left behind.

We currently have sites that support primary and secondary aged children in Swindon, Oxfordshire, Bristol, Hemel Hempstead and Hillingdon.

Building an alternative provision, non profit, for excluded children and those with special educational needs has been the definition of hard work. It’s not the children that we support that make it difficult, it’s the people that criticise and gossip about what you’re trying to do.

I’m privileged to have the best people around me that have helped me through this journey, whilst I’ve also been experiencing many personal traumatic experiences.

Setting up your own school, alternative provision or charity is not for the faint hearted (especially if you have your own autistic child to look after too!)

People told me 4 years ago it would be impossible to build an alternative education provision for children suspended or excluded from school.

I had no experience working in education or no experience supporting children with special educational needs.

4 years on, my first alternative provision is standing strong, supporting students across Oxfordshire.

And I’ve teamed up with 2 Dads to launch a national alternative provision company. We currently have 5 sites across the south of the UK.

Always follow your heart, stay focused and never let the words of others get to you ❤️
